His quartermaster and Blackbeard were extremely patient with him, probably because of how nice the guy was. They gave him way too many opportunities to shape up in my opinion.

Ironically, Blackbeard died the way Stede wanted to go out. Fighting till his last breath. In the end even that was indirectly stolen from him by Blackbeard. Poor Stede.

I was looking for this comment. Blackbeard was EXTREMELY good to this man. I was stunned with the "twist" of blackboard being a "good" guy. Also, all the loyalty Bonnett received, all the way to the end, was unwarranted for a man of his stature.
