No, RGB just took itself out when the time was right. Simpsons *started* its decline in season 5, but no one knew any better then; they're just holding on to nostalgia now, even though it's losing money.

By the time RGB started spoofing Simpsons and the Turtles, it was like that time Extreme Dinosaurs tried to make fun of Seinfeld of all things; it reminds me of something someone said once, _never reference a better movie in your shitty one._ All it does is make the audience go "why am I watching this crap when I could be watching that other one?"

It's possible that the lines were recorded well before the animation went into production and they decided to go with The Simpsons instead of Married With Children. Getting voice casts and animation cels together were a lot more difficult and time consuming before the days of Skype and digital painting.

They probably didn’t have time to re-record the voices. So you have these mutant hybrid ghosts that look like the Simpsons, but talk like the Bundys. That’s honestly scarier. Or it would have been if they hadn’t cut the animation budget.

Even if he couldn't pick it, he mentions a few times in the early series that he used to be a construction worker. He could EASILY make his way into a building he knows. Hell, wasn't he a soldier as well? Couldn't he just smack the door open?

As much as I love 80s/90s cartoons, they weren't really known for continuity. Unlike nowadays where everything has to be connected in a cinematic universe.

If anything, the 90s was the last decade where cartoons still felt like cartoons instead of trying to be everything else but cartoons. So many shows seem more like a sci-fi soap opera. Give me Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner any day of the week, especially Saturday morning.

@@beauwalker9820 There were multiple shows with internal continuity and an ongoing progressing story. Just look to Conan the Adventurer for a perfect example of this. While some episodes feel a bit off in where they fir (like Conan learning eastern martial for a single episode and never using them again), there is a clear goal of unpetrifying his parents that eventually gets resolved.

An MWC parody would make sense because they were both from Columbia Pictures Television.

They look like deformed babies of Patrick and Spongebob who then married their cousins... In another episode of "Kissing Cousins!" Monsieur Renard would be oh so proud!

That's what the quotation marks were implying, as cartoon=kids. ABC's censors are morons, you see. Just look up what crap they did to the show "Reboot." They wouldn't let them use the word "hockey" because it's the name of an obscure sex act. That's not to say the Simpsons was always kind of marketed to kids anyway. That's probably why they'd assume it's a kid's thing.

Maybe not then, but it has become even more childish and poorly written than the shows it was trying to make fun of before.

When you’re processing this, remember that this networks gave Roseanne her own Saturday morning cartoon before that cow movie took the blame for the death of Disney animation as Walt knew it.

Seems solid to me. I’ve learned almost everything I know about the Ghostbusters franchise from good ol’ Phelous here (I never saw any of it in my younger years), but this seems like it would fit in pretty well with what The Real Ghostbusters was before those Q5 assclowns crapped all over it. Certainly leagues better than anything the aforementioned Q5 losers ever did. While “better than Q5” isn’t saying anything by itself, I do think you crafted a good little script excerpt here. Nicely done.

The Simpson's prime was roughly between seasons 4 through 10. NOT at season 2.

To be honest, Lorenzo Music sounds like that too

This episode really stands out to me even though I watched the show at a very young age. It is somewhat dream-like to see some of the clips, but it’s no more feverish or out-there than any other cartoon.

I noticed some ideas during this season were clearly recycled from older ones. For example, "Busters in Toyland" was recycled from "The Grundel", "Russian About" (although I did like it) was recycled from "The Collect Call of Cthulhu", "Afterlife in the Fast Lane" was recycled from "The Devil to Pay", and "The Magnificent Five" was recycled from "Ghost Fight at the O.K. Corral".

Yeah, it's really not the same show at all at this point with the lower story and animation quality.

It makes you wonder why Screen Gems and Hanna-Barbera ever parted company.
