Gibson is at it again. Instead of improving their designs they've decided to just cut holes in cheap versions of their classic guitars. But why? Well, for starters, dummies like me will buy them to see if it is great or not, but we already know what the answer is. I can't believe Gibson's customers were knocking down the door asking for this this guitar... but we got it anyway. Enjoy.

If you want a $5000 Gibson acoustic, this aint it...man. This is something else and great and still a Gibson. I think it's a great guitar-i got the g writer used for $1000. Best deal i ever got. I was in Sam Ash today...that's right you heard right not guitar center but Sam Ash. I thought i was a guitar center man till a saw thier inventory. 😊 I was surprised by how many high end guitars they had on the wall and unlocked. Played them all and the Gibson g writer spoke to me the best. And i already own the new Gibson j45 rosewood burst. But the g sounded like a Gibson with a twist. An improved good twist or like a really good taylor with a lot of gibson dna. Im buying one to perfom with...it will be my go to performance guitar. Price has gone down...the g writer its now about $1550 new...I go it used for $1000. In the honky tonks is where ill take the G writer, And if thier is a brawl in the biker bar and it overlaps onto the stage, i wont feel so bad if i hit someone or a stage interloper in self defense of course-with the g writer, or if some drunken bitch spills beer on it cause she jumped on stage to try and kiss me...i wont mind that much. Because it's not an expensive collector guitar...its a guitar like the other g says, Guild says they have guitars meant to be played. Well that's how I feel about the g writer. I love the way it sounds. But that could be just me...a one time Gibson denier, but now a Gibson man plus. 12:56 12:56 12:56 12:56 12:56 12:56

Sam Ash is an amazing store and I'm personal friends with Sammy Ash so it doesn't surprise me at all that the store was nice and they had a vast inventory. I'd expect nothing less from Sam Ash! At 1550 this guitar is a much better value and I'm sure it's a guitar by guitar basis. At 2k its a hard pass. I appreciate the feedback brother, thank you for watching! I tried one at Guitar Center. I wasn’t too impressed. I have a Martin GPCPA4 Custom that I feel is pretty much like this but I think my Martin looks like it was better quality made & I got a hard case 😁. Shame on Gibson for asking $2K for it and no hard case! 🤦🏻‍♂️🤯 and awesome job on the honesty coming from ya. I can tell you love Gibson about as much as I do and feel a little disappointed. All my current Les Pauls have kept me happy. I REALLY want my next acoustic to be a Gibson and if I’m gonna shell out over $2K I BETTER love everything about it.

I am a lifelong gibson fan but I know when it's no Bueno. I swear I wanted to like this thing but it just sucked. If it were 1200 I think I would have been impressed, but for 800 more you could get 2 decent guitars instead of one bunk one with a hole! Thanks for watching and being a part of what I do. Cheers 🙏

Gibson had a good thing with walnut. It was called the J-15. It had walnut everything and a maple neck that gave it quite a punchy sound and it didn't have a hole on the side. It was a great guitar at a groovy price point, but no. It was cancelled. Why?

I'm with you. It's a nice guitar...for 500-750 when made by ibanez. For 2k, which I know is less now than maybe a few years ago, is a lot of money to spend. It was really hard to play. I didn't realize until I started practicing later how much you have to dig into that thing. It also sounds decent, but it helps I'm using a Neumann u87 into an ssl. But when you go to the j150 w your eyes closed there's no comparison in my mind.

I think this may be one of the better summaries I’ve heard of this guitar line. I have a GBird that I’ve been gigging for 6 months. It is one of 3 guitars I choose from, depending on the gig - the other 2 are an 08 Dove and a 65 Hummingbird. If I need the absolute best sounding guitar, I’m not choosing the GBird. But if I’m going to be carrying a guitar between venues, to from bars after a show, or leaving it in a hot car for a few hours, the GBird is the one for the job. It sounds good enough, gets the job done, and if it gets fucked up, it’s a hell of a lot cheaper and easier than replacing one of my others.

Next up, compare the soundport G-45 to the 1st Gen G-45. That sounds weird to say since they're both so new, but they don't make the 1st Gen anymore. The first ones had walnut bridge and fingerboard. BUT, it came with a hardshell case and was the same price as the G-00.
@TheNeuroticGuitarist
@TheNeuroticGuitarist 2 жыл бұрын
I dont dislike the walnut, but this did not make me fall in love with it either totally or aesthetically. I am done with the g series. This said everything it needed to. I don't normally buy guitars like that but I was curious. I can tell you right now that the g45 would bum me out and like the end of the video suggests, I'm over it!!!!

The g200 doesn't sound bad at all, it's just missing a fidelity to the sound that I expect for 2k. Their guitars are also hit or miss for me, I bet if I played 20 of these I'd probably find one I am in love with. I think if this guitar were even 1599 I'd be more of an advocate. But for 2k you can def buy a much better sounding/playing Taylor that comes w a hardshell case!

@@jimmysupafly1547 I think Taylor makes some of the most consistent guitars on the planet. Theyre the opposite of gibson. You'll play 20 and 18 sounds the same and are amazing. The best of them will never be the best Martin or gibson, but my buddy has an ebony builders series and it's better than 98% of the acoustics out there. Sound wise. Right? It's not bad by itself, you think...this sounds decent. Then you put a great guitar next to it and realize it sounds honky, loose, and regular. Most acoustics at this point will have a pretty decent sound if you're any good, but when you put it up in a studio it's night and day. A Yamaha acoustic your friend would let you borrow is a super accurate description. Thanks for watching. Please keep commenting and join the community, I appreciate you 🙏🙏🙏🤘😃🎸🔥

I am seriously confused with everyone's obsession on the player port. There are several boutique models that use something similar and no one ever complains about that. It just seems silly as hell to focus on the player port rather than the guitar itself. The cover for the player port is what, $20. Just cover the damn thing up and move on with your life.

Not happy with the ‘shopping bag’ it came in so bought a decent case and don’t care anymore. Gibsons are the price of a decent 2nd hand car in Oz so was stoked to find this at such a good price! Even the straps are $150 plus here!
