It's seemingly implied and hinted at that the stranger from the flashback was originally supposed to be Josuke, but at some point during the writing of DiU, Araki decided to go another way with the story. It wouldn't be the first time he's decided to drop certain ideas. I mean hamon itself got dropped for stand powers. My idea of how it was probably intended to happen was that Josuke got sent back in time due to a villain's power. Possibly Kira's Bites Za Dusto. Since that does have time travel aspects to it, and for some reason had to maintain his existence or find a way back, by helping his past self. Maybe the original way Kira's stand got rid of you was to make an event that happened in your past lead to your death, i.e. Baby Josuke dying from the DIO's curse illness that all Joestars at the time went through. Or, maybe he kept dying over and over, more like Diavolo, until he figured out a way to save his future self. I actually think this might be even more likely, as that's exactly what happens to Diavolo in the next part, and maybe Araki wanted to save the idea. Josuke's wounds in the flashback were similar to the ones he got when he fought Kira, but they could also have been caused by the many deaths he had to suffer through to get back. It's all just a theory, and I know it isn't the case now, but it's an interesting thing to think about, since Araki just mentioned it in passing, and never really delved into it much. As he said in that interview: "It was just Josuke's memory." It could have just been Josuke, over time, replacing the image of that hero in his mind with his own face. However, it's still very unusual. Why would there be this random, bloody, high school aged kid in the middle of nowhere in a massive snowstorm? Why was he walking on foot, and how would he know that the kid in the car was sick, since at the angle the panel is drawn in the manga, it wouldn't allow the stranger to see him. Let alone, tell that he was sick. There's a lot of mystery to it, and that's what drives people to think of theories like this. The scenario was just too suspiciously convenient and unnatural.

That was because Joseph only suffered clinical death. Although the time limits may be unrealistic and the draining of blood makes everything much harder, you can bring them back to life if you can restart their heart. Josuke's grandpa suffered brain death when Aqua Necklace destroyed him from the inside. He was already gone when Josuke found him, even if he brought his brain back together

Also, you know, Souls. Josuke's grandfather didn't have a fighting spirit, so his soul was never going to be strong enough to return to his body Joseph has a nack for cheating death, and a very strong fighting spirit even in his old age, meaning he was able to return to his body when Jotaro restarted his heart and got his organs back to function. Hell, Joseph is still alive even in Part 6.

I am not sure if Josuke could be ruthless enough to be in the mob, but many if not all of the Bucci Gang could have survived if Josuke were there. His restoration is super fast, faster than Giorno's Gold Experience at that time. If Koichi survived Kira's attack, Abbacchio could have survived with Josuke's help. And Mista's life would be easier if all the times he was shot he could be quickly and painlessly healed. We would miss all the amazing homoeroticism of Mista and Giorno tho.

I dont think CD was powerful enough to beat SP but rather match it. If it was a base fist fight it may have been a tie or SP would have won due to experience. But concerning abilities it all depends on who got the first hit in. Concerning GE im not 100% on its base power but the abilities i think would tie up as giorno uses his ability to get out of situations similar to josuke but once again if giorno wanted he could beat CD with its own physical strenghth similar to leaky eyed luca's fate. Again it all depends. Wich also begs the question. If josuke punched one of giornos creatures while using its ability would he heal himself or would giornos ability be void cuz he healed the creature as fast as he harmed it

@@dennissweeney4577 See the thing is Josuke is significantly kinder than Luca so it's not as likely he would attack with intent to kill, like what happened to Koichi. We also don't know how Josuke's restore interacts with Giorno's animals. More importantly in terms of physical strength the two aren't even close CD is An A in destructive Power and Giorno is only a C, They has the same speed but Giorno would be overpowered.
