I think it’s easy to electrify trucks because they are body on frame For the others they have to fit the battery in the monocoque chassis or make a ground up option

Yes qudrasteer system and it was on the 2500HD trucks which are still on the road today... not so sure about these electric "Green" trucks.

They discontinued it because it had a very high failure rate. Hopefully they don't have a similar issue to the Bolt here

Yeah this price point is confusing to me. I guess GMC is just banking on people being so desperate to get something they'll make bad choices with their money.

Edition 1 is a fully loaded launch edition. There are no other options.

An ICE version of this truck with no mid-gate, less HP, slower 0-60, no 4-wheel steering will set you back $80k. If you want a cheaper truck, you can get the Silverado EV or a lower spec Sierra EV. Hell, you can get a Cadillac Escalade for $80k to $150k. I guarantee most of the ones you see driving around the mall and in the suburbs are closer to $80k.

Then there are your insurance and registration costs. What does the warranty cover and not cover? How long will you have to wait for a repair? You'll burn through tires quicker: how much do they cost to replace? This truck is expensive, so are you paying cash or financing it, keeping in mind higher interest rates?

This is not expensive when you think of the cost of climate change. You know how much climate change affects our fellow people of color? Plz consider things besides YOUR pocket book.....

the sierra has always been a slightly nicer, more premium, more expensive silverado, and that seems like the case with the ev versions too. the sierra ev is just a silverado ev but with a more refined exterior and luxurious interior.

400 should be the minimum range before manufacture be allowed to put them in the market. The hummer gets something like 100 miles per charge.

It's a Chevy Avalanche, made electric. The tooling isn't the issue. It's the availability of batteries.

Wait till you check the price of insurance, then just go buy a low mileage gas truck, they don't mention that your mileage is cut in half in the winter running your heater.

Most GM dealerships at this point can service EVs, but for warranty work, I'm pretty sure you're going to have to go through a GM EV certified tech. In terms of parts, they are ramping up to a 600,000+ annual production rate for the Sierra EV + Silverado EV by 2025, so sourcing parts shouldn't be an issue at all.

Until you actually use it as a truck. Looking at less than 100 miles if you do any towing or hauling. They're great for people on a short commute who need extra space for groceries, but if you have to pull a trailer, even a light trailer, electric isnt going to work. Range drops drastically on EVs when they tow or haul. The lighting should get at or close to 300 miles unloaded. But towing even a light trailer it dropped to below 100 miles. Good looking truck though, but I do prefer the front end of the Chevy version though. Its going to take time and a serious revamp of our power grid and charging infrastructure before an EV pickup can really be used like a real truck. Of course most people who own trucks don't even use them anyway, so these should be good replacements for those types of owners. For people like me who tow and haul alot, as much as I like this, it just wouldn't work. I wouldn't even be able to take my tractor in to the dealer for service and back without having to find somewhere to plug in to.

@@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix You're absolutely correct... But by the time more people get into electric cars & trucks, electric chargers will be more populated alone many roads & freeways. These newer EVs can charge much faster on Level 3 public chargers. There needs to be more education pertaining to range dropping, people don't know that when an electric car is full of passengers, cargo and when the air conditioning is on the range decreases and the range further drops when going up hills... Yes, that 300 electric range truck will rarely get 300 miles when it has a heavy load to carry

@@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix Of course that's true for early adopters. I suspect the same was true when ICE hit the streets. They didn't get the milage they get today nor did gas stations exist on almost every other street. It'll take time but the EV has arrived.

@@MrVeeBlog I think once/if our power grid gets the proper upgrades higher density batteries that can charge fast enough to give 300-400 miles of range in 20 minutes or so can be more of a reality.

@@mamadouaziza2536 I think what contributs to the huge degradation in range is the ampunt of torque available. When towing with an ice engine, particularly a gasoline engine you hear/feel the engine work and most people take it easy and dont wotk it too hard. When you have an electric truck lile the lightning that has so much power and you cant feel/hear it working its easier to worl it harder without realizing. Like whem pulling a hill, the ICE engine will kick down and if uts a gas burner the rpms really go up to pull the hill amd you end up taking it slower. With the electric you have so much available torque that you can pull the hill at almost any speed so if the speed limit is 70 you can pull that hill at 70 am not realize you're using so much power. In an ICE you know it because to pull 70 on a hill with a trailer you might have to kick down a gear or two so you really hear it working and so the average person back off a bit. You known when your pushing an ICE engine, but with an electric motor its all but imperceptible.
