Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on KZfaq, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on KZfaq. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on KZfaq, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.

The Go-Gos were huge for GenX kids in the 80s. They had many hits. Then the lead singer, Belinda Carlisle went on to have a very successful solo career.

The Go Go's and their lead singer, Belinda Carlisle, were huge in the 80s. They had a string of hits and were always on the radio. You couldn't walk into a club or bar and not hear their songs and videos playing. Great times.

Lead singer Belinda Carlisle went solo in the middle 80s and had some HUGE Top 40 hits, most notably "Mad About You", "Heaven Is A Place On Earth", and "Circles In The Sand."

Some of the members are old friends of mine….believe it or not, they were a punk band that morphed into more of a pop band. They were fantastic in the early days, beauty and the beat is an awesome album.

GoGos were so much fun. They came up out of the LA punk movement but blossomed into a power pop band. Belinda had a very unique voice. They have tons of great hits. Check out "Head Over Heels" and "We Got the Beat" next! If you liked this, you'll love those.

Believe it or not, they started out in the punk scene in L.A. and were formed as a punk band. And the lead singer in this video, Belinda Carlisle, was in a very famous punk band called the Germs, under the name Dottie Danger! (Pat Smear, one of the guitarists in The Foo Fighters, was a co-fouder and lead guitarist of the Germs)

The Go-Go’s were hugely popular and were the first all female band to hit #1 on the Billboard Album chart with their debut “We Got The Beat”. There are a lot of great songs from this band, but, for me their best is off the debut album, a song about their hometown and mine, Los Angeles, called “This Town”.

1959 Buick Invicta convertible. My favorite uncle had one o' those. Nice car! I wasn't a fan of the Go-Gos in their time in the eighties, but do enjoy their music some now when I listen back, as sort of a nostalgic thing.

I was about 10 or 11 when this song debuted. And I fell hard for their music right away. "Vacation" is my favorite of their (the video is a trip too) but all their albums full listen are bangers. All the members are doing music on their own terms right now touring separately. But this song means a lot to me now. I'm writing a novel about Queer teenager's in the 80's and upon asking if I could use the lyrics in a scene in the book, Jane gave me permission to do so. And The Go-Go's were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021. Having sold millions of album and gaining a multitude of awards over their career they are one the most successful American "Girl Groups" ever.

MTV was the media that boosted bands and artists at the time along with radio. We could all see them perform perhaps for the first time. Other amazing pop/rock songs to check out: "We Got the Beat" (1980) "Vacation" (1982) End title song in "Spiderman-Away From Home", a cool in movie use. "Head Over Heals" (1984)

They were so cute and happy. You'll be shocked by the band their singer was almost in before, the Germs! They were the most bleak, reckless band in LA. But real decent punk rock, very influential. Their guitarist was Pat Smear later of Nirvana and Foo Fighters. They have iconic scenes in the great documentary The Decline Of Western Civilization. Go-Go's were Huge!

One of my favorite bands and album of all time. Beauty And The Beat masterfully produced by Richard Gottehrer who produced hits for 60's groups such as the Angels, The McCoys, The Strangeloves, etc. He does a great blending the 60s girl sound and Power Pop Rock.

The Go Go's were originally a Punk band, but the record company made them a more mainstream pop sound. This was a big MTV hit in the early 80's. Also "We Got The Beat" and "Holiday" are pretty good. You were right the second time, Jane Weidlen, (Weed-len).

Speaking of The Specials and Fun Boy Three--check them both out! Both excellent and tons of fun. Fun Boy Three recorded a slow, moody version of "Our Lips Are Sealed" that's just as good as this one, in a different way. The Specials were a ska band remembered primarily for "Ghost Town" and "A Message To You Rudy"

"We got the beat" was their first big hit. Was probably a bigger hit than this one, as I recall at the time! :)

When you get a chance, you should see their documentary. Don't be confused by their videos. They lived the rock and roll lifestyle with the partying and drugs. I have a lot more respect for them after watching it and what it was like for them and where they are now.

Oddly enough, the song Our Lips Are Sealed, was a product of a British all male group, Fun Boy Three. A marginal success for FBT, but a year later, became a huge global hit for the Go Gos. Off their debut album, Beauty and the Beat, their sound was considered post punk, New Wave. Their second album took on a more polished pop sound, giving them huge crossover appeal.
