One of my favourite moments of the day, is the golden hour, just before the sunsets. As the sun drops lower over the canal, it brings a warm glow of vibrant colour to my surroundings. Sitting on the welldeck of my floating narrowboat home in natures golden hour, I'm back in that place of stillness, in the now and with an empty mind. Nature is beautiful and great at healing if you tune in!
The Journey started here... I once lived in the fast lane of life, happily married of 26 years, with two children. That chapter was suddenly shattered by the sudden loss of my wife to cancer, which led me in to depression and homelessness. Waking up in hospital, after attempting to take my own life, with just a suitcase, kayak and bicycle and no money, I've managed to rise up out of the darkness and find happiness and continue my next chapter.
I'm a self taught film maker, and creating these vlogs, it gives me something to do, share my personal experiences as I continue my journey cruising and living life on the canal. Please do consider supporting my channel below... Thank you Dave

I agree that the light at the beginning and end of the day has a special, magic quality. Everything can be just a bit more golden, when the sun is full out.

I absolutely loved the contrast between the canal and the road. How slow the boat was going while the cars were rushing by clearly not noticing the beauty around them at such a fast pace. The colours you capture are phenomenal and totally meditative. Thank you for sharing your adventures 🙏

This kind of tranquil beauty and calm makes me wish the video was three times as long. Something most people dont consider in this type of camera work is how exposure and aperture control are so important at this beautiful time of day. Another aspest is having an eye for composition. Thanks for tuning in to my videos, David. Answer 1. Most of the time, I'm a sleep on a night, so yer its mostly peaceful. 😃 All depends on where you moor up. I try to stay away from mooring up in built-up areas. Yes, less light pollution and good for star gazing. Always hearing owls and foxes most nights. Answer 2. In 5 years living on water, I don't find it getting anymore congested. Just gets busy during holiday periods with hire boats and day boats. You just keep going to you find a free space. The answers are based on my location. If your down south near London or other cities, there is a shortage of mooring spaces. Dave 🙏
