My Grand Father Robert Paterson was in the Gordon Highlanders in the First World War. Sadly he died the year before I was born. This music is beautiful.

I remember either in late 1960s or early 1970s, The Gordon Highlanders pipes and drums were on TV every week. I would be upstairs in my room and my mother would turn up the volume for a bar or two. As soon as I heard it, I thundered down the stairs. Oh how I miss those days and my sweet gentle Mother.

Now I know why the best Brother in Law ever, could Highland Dance with absolute ease, because he served with the best, The Gordon Highlanders.

This is how Highland Dancing should be done. We rarely see it now as the ladies at the tattoos have taken it over with their Riverdance immitations. True regimental dancing with the men shows the strength and majesty of the Highland Fling as its shown here by the drums & pipes of the Gordon Highlanders in the last combined performance with the regimental band in Aberdeen concert hall around 1993 or so. A sad event. You can hear the quality of the band for sure. Enjoy some true Highland dance

You know about the Gordon Highlanders International homecoming beating retreat? It's to be held in Aberdeen later July to the 2nd of August. Pipes and Drums from round the world affiliated with the Gordons will be attending. I will be there as a piper in the 5th/6th Bn. Royal Victoria Regiment from Australia. Its a big event for people who support the Gordons.

Sad that the Gordon Highlanders got disbanded and got amalgamated with two former regiments, Camerons and the Seaforth's that form the highlanders battalion today, I wish Britsh military would not have amalgamated them together.

Did you manage to catch the Beating Retreat? It turned out quite well. Only two bands were in gordon tartan however, including us.
