We all know that prices of almost everything aren’t coming down. Simply put, they're rising less. Costs are rising due to rising inflation. As we are evidently at the verge of hyperinflation, with the less haves bearing the brunt of the burden. I'm more concerned that the rising inflation may lead my entire $990k retirement funds to lose value. Where else could we put our cash?

Well, since COVID, it has become more difficult to create a strong financial portfolio, I advise you to create a diversification strategy. My coworker advised me to see a consultant. Inflation can have a significant impact on individuals and their cost of living. As a result, it can cause negative market sentiment. It is important for individuals and businesses to find ways to navigate and potentially mitigate the effects of inflation on their finances. The current economic climate, including underperformance of financial markets due to fear of inflation, has led to a decrease in the value of my portfolio. I would appreciate any recommendations on how to potentially increase returns during this market downturn.

No, the Government is definitely not being honest about inflation. Anyone purchasing groceries or gasoline is well aware that real inflation is much over 10%; they simply lie about it like cheap blankets. In reality, interest rates would be in the 20s because of how high inflation is. My major concern is despite the high rate of inflation, certain investors continue to earn over $365,000. Wages I paid went up 70% over a few years just to retain employees. Real estate taxes have gone up 19% in past two years. My home insurance has gone up 42% over past two years. Our commonly purchased food items have tripled in the past two years. Our gas prices have gone up 75% in past two years. These are our primary expenses!

According to Google: Question: Does the US government buy stocks? Answer: The Federal Reserve implements monetary policy decisions through the buying and selling of securities (held in the System Open Market Account, or SOMA) on the open market desk at the New York Fed. These transactions serve to adjust the cost and availability of money and credit in the U.S. economy. (Can someone please clarify this mysterious "FED" term? this seems to be what is making this so difficult to understand. Is "The FED" in this specific case "The Biden Administration"?)

The government currently lacks concrete strategies to address inflation. Inflationary pressures are impacting various sectors, including stocks, housing, and commodities, causing their prices to rise. It is not advisable to keep your money idle and wait for a market crash. Instead, it is prudent to put your money to work by starting with cautious investments and gradually increasing your pace as prices decline further. Withdrawing a significant amount of money, exceeding $500K, from my account at this time presents a challenging decision.

People like Steve Moore, who have been critical of the inflation situation, have been way understating what the actual price increases have been. They talk on TV about prices that are 10%, 12%, 15% higher than a year or two ago. No way. It's more like 50% to well over 100%. And let's not forget to mention that everyone's 401K and brokerage accounts are still down at least 30% from when Trump was in office. Biden has been a disaster.

They didn’t screw retirees over. They just kicked the can down the road for the bigger issue. SS runs out of reserves by 2033 at the current rates, at which point they could only afford to pay people about 75% of their current SS income. If anything this gives retirees and tax payers more time before the inevitable of either higher taxes or less benefits. I’m 100% for a form of social security. But this needs revised for who really needs it. You can be a multimillionaire still collecting SS. There’s a reason companies left the defined benefit plans (pensions) and put it back on the employees with 401k’s. Hell most states pension plans are not well run either.
@JoelKlessig
@JoelKlessig 7 ай бұрын
In order to pay SS retirees more they need to raise taxes. Are we all ready for that?? There’s a demographics problem. Not enough people to pay into the system. This means even more money will come out of your paycheck. It’s not sustainable. Everybody wants something for nothing, tax breaks plus more money from government. The math doesn’t add up.

Legislation needs to be enacted in which independently measured thresholds are set for a debt/gdp ratio, unemployment rates, healthcare wait times, education standards, living costs and so forth. Fall below the threshold and public officials get canned so there is an actual consequence for such futility. Watch how hard these slackers will actually work when their cushy job is on the line. Not much incentive for them at the moment. All they have to do is the bare minimum and a bit of pandering around election time to stay in office. That's not good enough.

FYI: The photos did lie. Bread flower is 3 times more expensive than all purpose flower. Also the Costco video didn't show "apples to apples" compilations. Some of the products were on sale or an entirely different brand or type. Don't blindly believe everything you see.

Food is so cheap, always has been too cheap.. i ate like a king this week for $23.. 2 packs imported spaghetti.. $3.50 x 2 is $7. Prego sauce 40oz $6 2 lbs of meat balls $8.. spices $2.. People bitch and complain about nothing. The worse is when they bitch about gas prices.. it adds up to maybe $150 a month… Taxes is what they should be bitching about.. If people would shut up and get to work half as much as they complain.. they wouldn’t have any money problems.

All good arguments, I just wish Peter would stop making the example of newspapers from 2003-2013. He forgets to mention that you can't really compare those prices, due to a little revolution called the Internet, which made access to news much easier, hence the increase of cost in physical paper.
