THE GREAT PURGE - A Star Wars Fan Film
The following events on this fan film are NOT lore accurate. And yes i know how beskar armor works, and this is why it say its not lore accurate because the animation film shows Mandalorians getting one shotted by a blaster fire. Some minor parts on this film including the scenes, weapons, characters, dialogue etc. are totally fan-made.
(If you wish to use this animation for your KZfaq, TikTok content etc. It's absolutely fine as long as you give me credit for it, thank you.)
(Since the "Night of a Thousand Tears" was first introduced in The Mandalorian series, I was very interested to it and we only saw a brief flashback on how the purge looked like and i felt like it wasn't enough, I always believed there was more to its story as the last time we saw the Mandalorians was united once again under the leadership of Bo-Katan in Rebels series and thought they finally had an happy ending. And then suddenly The Great Purge arrived and all of Mandalore's culture, identity, society and its people was destroyed in an instant. I wanted to make an animation about the full story of the Great Purge and what it may have looked like according to my point of view so some parts on this film are not lore accurate, and also to extend that brief flashback with more details and scenes)
"After our forces were annihilated in the Night of a Thousand Tears and defeat was imminent, I met with Moff Gideon. The ISB had reached out to me to negotiate a cease-fire. In exchange for submitting to the Empire and disarming, all remaining cities and Mandalorian lives were to be spared. That is how Moff Gideon came to posses the Darksaber. I didn't trust him but it was the only chance I had to save our people. And then he betrayed me and we were helpless to resist the Purge of Mandalore"

Realizing they would never be able to control Mandalore and wanting to make sure no other faction could, the Empire instead set out to punish the Mandalorians, wipe out their memory, and deter unrest on other worlds between 1 BBY and 5 ABY.

he knew if the mandalorians could potentionally rally supporters if enough of them survived to start a rebellion, so he massacred them all, least most of them, unfortunately the stolen fleet did not happen yet and even after that not many of them where left since they scattered across the galaxy to live in hiding

No it's not, stormtroopers were not used for the destruction of Mandalor clones were still the back bone of the empire, besides stormtroopers are inferior to clones and the 223rd clone legion under Rex had a hard enough time with the sege of Mandalor. What makes you think that inferior stormtroopers would be any better?

@thewolf1047 Yes it is. It’s confirmed that the Empire sent troops into Mandalore and annihilated the Mandalorian defenders and forced Bo Katan to surrender. They glassed the planet after. The Empire is more armed and capable of open warfare than what you give them credit for. Rex and his clones had it easy because the Mandalorians were still divided, some under Bo-Katan and some under Maul. Here the Mando‘s were United. Yet they still got beaten by the Empire because the Empire isn’t retarded and are an actual military force that you don’t screw around with. Yet the Mando‘s did and paid a heavy price.

what Bo-Katan failed to understand was this was not a war between equal powers, or a conquest it was a punishment from their Emperor for their defiance, there is no forgiveness for disobedience, for defying the emperor, siding against him there is only one outcome, death, and so mandalore burned in fire of his wrath

She knew the empire was stronger, but i think she didnt think they would care. Wouldnt see them as a threat on the map. The imperial occupation on mandalora was rather a faction warfare rather than pure imperial. I think Gideon had a purpose there, he fought it very personally.

The Empire never actually occupied Mandalore. They attacked the mandalorians on the planet, then they turned the planet surface to slag by using the Star Destroyers heavy turbolasers and Tie Bombers. The few mandalorians that survived the spanking from the Emperor spread out across the galaxy, as Boba Fett did.

Something I love about this is that it shows just how much smoke dust would be present. The helmets would be needed just to breath, and to see. As Finn says in TFA, the primary purpose of the Stormtrooper helmets is to filter out smoke... and this is a wide-open battlefield, In the narrow confines of a ship or building, the combatants would be nearly blind without helmet optics after a prolonged fight.

For the Empire is more important that the troopers are fanatically loyal, competence is irrilevant as their survival as they have numbers, they have given them shoody equipment and never really cared to solve the issue till their logistic chain go down to hell from this moment as resources were limited well they keep attention but by then it was too late. Basically Filoni had the right vision of the imperial army, sorry but the competent war machine is more a fan idea, reality will be more akin to the Russian Army that is fighting in Ukraina right now.

The prosperity of an Empire often signifies countless brave and loyal soldiers sacrificing themselves for it, just like the brave and strong Stormtroopers lying on the ground in this video. ...sounds like a current empire trying to resurrect itself from its current state of gloom in hopes to make it "powerful" again. After the sacrifice, they can no longer contribute to that empire. Plus, we never saw memorials honoring their sacrifice. When 1 falls, there are a million more right behind you so you are litterly just a number and nothing more....

Excellent job. My guess is if we ever get an official version of this, we’d get cameos from not only Bo-Katan and Gideon, but also Sabine Wren’s family, including their deaths. But again, beautifully done as is. Fan animations have some of the best content.

I love the shot of Mando artillery and how it looks exactly like the American m777 Howitzer. I also love how you gave the Stormtroopers tactical vest and made them use actual ambush tactics against the Mando's. That scene with the Stormtrooper commander and the Mandalorian having a 1v1 and the Stormtrooper actually winning made me jump out of my seat. Stormtroopers are my favorites and i love them getting some love. Well done sir:)

Actually yes it was a howitzer in the animation only few people noticed that detail, I edited some changes on that howitzer model, made it look like a bit more technologically advanced to fit into the sci-fi world of star wars I just thought it would look nice on the animation so yeah anyways thanks for commenting!

@@STERNI85 at this point, now that Din and Grogu are not focused on the mandalore stuff, and mandalore is free and being rebuild seeing a flashback of its destruction would be pointless unless we are developmentally Bo Katan or some new character who was in during Purge (Din wasn't so he won't be it)

Great Job! You did a better job at showing how effective the Empire is than a multi billion dollar company 💀 Feedback: The Stormtroopers going blind is impossible because their helmets make them immune to flashbangs. The size accuracy for the ISD is incredibly good. Disney doesn't even know how big the ISD really is and shows them way too small all the times. You did it perfectly The Stormtroopers all had that belt which I would have kept away because if they need more space for food or simular they would use backpacks like sandtroopers did. The Accurate Portraying of Stormtroopers and how they decimate average Mandos is gorgeous.

And yeah i also agree with you about disney making the empire look weak, i mean they made stormtroopers really bad and non threatening, ive always wanted to make these guys like a real threat and a problem agaisnt the "good guys" ive been a fan of stormtroopers since i was a kid and i wasnt really satisfied on how they were portrayed in the movies and shows

@@SirDinzhi the real enemy of the stormtroopers are unharmed civilian that they need to terrorize in compliance as show in Andor, against proper trained soldiers well they lack everything from proper equipment to real esprit de corp and that's by design as Uncle Palpy don't want competent soldiers but only loyal one (and competence can be very problematic if they decide to rebel) they need to look cool and intimidating not to really be. And sure theoretically the stormtroopers armor protect against flashbang, but there is a wall of reality between what advertised and what it can really do probably thanks to the corruption that Uncle Palpy love to foster. Again for real life counterpart of the Imperial armed forces look at Russia

I don't think Gideon would evacuate his troopers before bombarding Mandalore. He is unlike Thrawn. While Tharawn cares about his soldiers and have respect for them, Gideon is coward and nacisist. I think he never withdrew his units from battle.

This is a different Gideon before the fall of the Empire. He isn't desperate and cocky because his empire is still here. I personally prefer the competent and more badass Gideon portrayed here. A good use of his character. Besides, its freggin Gustavo Fring in space. Cold and calculating.

Very much enjoyed this video. Loved that you included the mass TIE Bomber formation conducting the carpet bombings and even enjoyed the destruction of the capital. Got a good little laugh that you used the M777 Howitzer and Star Wars'd it for the video

There are stories and eras of Legends in which the Imperial Machine - and the Stormtrooper Corps in particular - are portrayed as terrifyingly efficient, well-trained, well-resourced, and therefore functionally unstoppable. But it's the *combination* of all of those things, including the resources - that made them so fearsome. As you show at the end, the Purge was effected with numbers and air support. But a small unit of stormies able to merc an equally sized unit of Mandalorians? That part was tough to swallow.

This is really great. I do love that this shows that when the Empire ABANDONS all effort for control and decides to instead destroy, they are VERY good at it. Others see this as how Disney fails to portray the Empire as anything but incompetent, but that's looking at it the wrong way. The Empire seeks mostly to CONTROL the galaxy, not destroy it. But in this case, the Purge of Mandolore, is a case of the Empire abandoning all desire to control them and instead just destroy them. So they no longer need to hold back. No need to fight and subjugate. Just slaughter them completely. No worry about civilian casualties, no worry about losing resources, none of that. They can just raze everything to the ground.

The Imperial Academy definitely taught the history of the age of the Mandalorian Crusades. I watched all seasons of The Mandalorian. I learned all about the Night of 1000 Tears. I honestly never thought I’d shed my own at watching this. 😢 a testament to your talent.

Despite being based off of the events described in the Mandalorian Season 3, this short is so many times better. It actually showcases stormtroopers as an elite and deadly force, which is something we need to see so much more of, and (unlike Mando s3) the Mandalorians can and will be killed by shooting the holes in the beskar (wheras in Mando s3 the Mandalorians lost not a SINGLE soul other than Paz). Sure the Mandalorians have better warriors, but there's not much you can do against a swarm of tie bombers. It felt very epic, and you knew as soon as Bo-Katan received a transmission what was about to happen. Also Moff Gideon looked very epic.

Bro, I have no words. I've watched hundreds of animations, even more fan films. This was THE BEST I've ever seen. My jaw dropped when Bo Katan showed up and stayed dropped for the rest of the video. This was intense, emotional, well put together. This is everything I imagined the night of a 1000 tears to be and more. It was incredible. The Empire was epic, the animation was epic and the story was epic. This is the power of the Empire. Mandalore, a planet we've come to know and love, absolutely decimated, and we got to watch it happen. The voices were spot on too. F*ck all those petty complaints I've seen in the comments, this is the coolest star wars animation I've ever seen. Thank you for bringing this to life🙏

Brilliantly depicted. The Imperial army is competent and knows what they're doing, The mandos are using conventional tactics instead of stupid disney guerrilla attacks. Keep up the good work mate

This is on par with Rogue One and Andor in terms of realism (grim war, Imperials DO damage, etc.) and a lot better than most Star Wars stuff out there! Only advice would be to make the voices a bit louder compared to the sfx sounds, other than that it's great!
