I think there's about 15 bloody rings here, but it's only a few minutes into the battle, and we are seeing this pile of rings at just at this one crane platform. When they showed the wall from high above I was able to see at least 7 platforms total. So if you figure at least 15 dead crane soldiers per platform, that adds up to over 100. By any objective metric, the crane corps got their asses kicked. 😅

Well, they should have made more arrows instead of human held javelin thrower machine towers that need an army inside to just throw a javelin, with soldier attached....... Look at the waste of wood! I mean, yes arrows need specific wood but these could free those specific wood to from being used as other things instead of arrows.

If you watched closely after they released their first wave of arrows, a lot of aliens managed to get through. Since the enemy is fast and approaching, he reminded the archers to aim for the eyes.

Yeah, instead of bungee jumping they should have stood on the walls and use the ropes to quickly move. Other infantry soldiers did so later in the movie and they were more successful. The Crane Corps wasted a lot soldiers just to kill a few enemies.

@Dodadeus wrong, watch the movie again. the crane corps were meant to either stop or delay the tao tei from climbing the wall, so whether they kill something or not doesnt matter, the tao tei must absolutely not reach the top of the wall. they werent used in the second battle because they cant see and the tao tei were already climbing the wall a long time before they realized.

I totally understand this is a joke, by the way. But, for anyone who doesn't: The film is basically just based on the original invasions of the Mongol Warriors into China. The Mongols rode horses, which was odd to the Chinese at this point as it was based just before they got the idea from the Mongols. So, when they depicted the Mongol Warriors in scriptures they would draw beasts with massive mouths and two sets of eyes, as the horses had a set of eyes and the riders had a set of eyes. The reason that they are described as "Personifications of Greed" is because the Mongols were reckless and ruthless; they took anything and everything without discrimination and left nothing in their wake but destruction as they plagued across the East. This was because they were largely nomadic and thus had no need to think about preserving and area for settlement - they'd let the Chinese rebuild and restock and then return to pillage once more. So, this comment is basically sarcasm in the fact that, Historically it is accurate as it is driven from original Chinese Tapestries that depicted the Mongols as Greed-driven Demonic beings who sought to overrun Chinese Society but it is Literally inaccurate as it was not Greed-driven Demonic beings but the Mongol Warriors who attacked the wall. Also going to point out, while I'm at it, that gunpowder was actually discovered in China and used for fireworks which I find amusing, and then Westerners like those depicted in this film came and saw the capabilities and moulded the ideas of mass-destructive explosives. The Chinese literally discovered the key to most bombs and used it to make pretty lights in the sky and the Westerners moved on to make blunderbuss and take lives. :smirk:
