Our catamaran Bimini was in TERRIBLE shape and we did not want to spend the money on a professional.... Who needs professionals! In this video we (mostly Becky) took on the massive project of making a new Bimini for our Catamaran Sailboat. We scored a great deal on fabric from Ebay and we had already purchased a sailrite sewing machine a couple years ago. This bimini is not a simple project. The Bimini needed to have two windows for sail trim observation as well as four solar panel attachments.

Thanks guys! The color was a little more tan than we expected. It was called Charcoal grey but we really like it also. We have enough to do the dodger and surround as well as winch covers and all the small things. The sail bag will have to stay blue. ☺️

Looks good. Keep in mind that those aluminum brazing rods are mostly zinc. So they’ll act as sacrificial anodes over time.

Hi Tom, lol. I just looked it up and they say 93% zinc followed by 4% aluminum and copper. Who knew..🤷‍♂️ Thanks for the heads up. We’ll keep an eye on them. At least these “welds” aren’t under water 😅

Super nice sewing job and install. A word of caution though you put it on cold and I don't know what material you used. The bad news is that it may expand and loosen up in tropical heat...or even worse shrink. I did a top for the Humvee I made, and it ultimately shrank enough so that it was useless over a number of years.

@@SaltyEscape Nope didn't get the bolts out yet. I'm still trying , on to method two as heat alone didn't do it with vise grips. Gotta weld nuts on now. If that doesn't work I can go on to tapping them, but I wouldn't have much hope of it working out..
