Bro. I relate. Blazblue changed my life. Despite only ever living in rural areas and never having access to a community, despite only having the online features which weren't always great, this was the second fighting game I ever took seriously, and the first one I ever competed in and went to Evo for, and set me on the path to finding and being a part of the FGC It's the one that influenced me to pick up studying classical Japanese (cuz Hakumen), it's the one I will never delete off my PlayStation even though I hardly play it anymore(still praying ArcSys brings rollback to CF for console someday). All that being said, Blazblue is, and always has been, in my eyes, the greatest fighting game ever made. Maybe someday I'll move closer to Tokyo and try it out in it's original birth place, the Japanese arcades. For now though, I'm just gonna have to send my regards from Tohoku

@@ANIMEILLUMINATI That's a shame. But even if I don't get the chance to try it on console, Blazblue is still the greatest fighting game. And, as all the old Japanese literature loves to inform us, all good things must come to an end, and there is a kind of bittersweet enjoyment in that.

YES!! I remember buying this game frame 1!! and being obsessed with Jin! The Original Lust Sin, and the voice lines of Jin from BBCT is still the best to this day. "Fubuki," "Rehhyō" "Musō Senshōzan" (Musō Senshōzan is the goat btw). MAN TIME FLIES!! I wish we could somehow get another BB game :(

I think the series really found its stride in Chronophantasma. The overall mechanics overhaul drastically changed the pacing, how combos functioned, and damage that made the game more nuanced. BBCP1.0 Pre-Kokonoe, that 6 months time between the JP console release of BBCP and the US release had some of the best balance. The only thing you had to worry about was Hakumen ToDs off air throw OD.

Only thing I didn't like as much about later entries, was the way Jin looked (his portrait art compared to BBCT), the way his voice lines sounded (again compared to BBCT) and I missed the BBCT versus screen music :(

The sound design in the first 2 blazblue's were so inspired. Sure they were loud and busy, but it fits the whole "cosmic interdimensional fight to the death." story. So sad they canned the echos and unique hit sounds for basic smack and crack sounds like in the later blazblue games.

Blazblue is the fighting game I have the fondest memories of. Grew up a huge GG fan in highschool and loved Arcsys. Then when Blazblue dropped i became even more addicted. The character designs, wild story, how diverse the cast was... and yes V13 Nu was my favorite fighting game character I have ever played. She was a rushdown zoner teleporter part mech girl waifu. Her gameplay loop felt amazing. Yes shes busted but her kit is something i wish existed in other games. This was the first game that my now wife then girlfriend got inspired to really go hard into cosplay as well. We did a full hakumen and V13 cosplay using ducttape foam board and spandex and man they turned out great. Taking them to cons and seeing how hyoed all the other Blazblue fans were hit different. I love the passion of the Arcsys and Blazblue fan base. This game just brought about so many wonderful memories and While my wife still needs Dizzy in strive Im holding out hope for a new BB fighting game. The mechanics, the characters, how anime as heck it is.... Thanks Jiyuna for always putting out the occasional vid reminding everyine how wild and great this amazing franchise is.

Happy 15 years Jiyuna. I wasn’t there from the start. I had to look on my Steam history, but shortly after I built my first PC, my friend talked me into getting Continuum Shift in 2015. Coming from someone that didn’t partake in anything anime, even I was hooked on the intro video alone. I thought it was so bad ass. I slowly started learning how to play (and sucked) while learning other fighters at the same time, and just getting my first arcade stick (TE2). I purchased BBCF in 2017, and it easily became my favorite fighting game, and still is today. Blazblue didn’t only teach me a lot of mechanics and change my interests when it comes to fighting games, but was the first time in my life I found to appreciate content in the Japanese language. Not only do I enjoy the characters, the voice actors that cast them, and the music, but the game just feels buttery smooth. Outside of online play back then lmao! But I still loved the game.

Used to play CS:EX all day every day with my brother back in 2012, just us couch-gaming trying to understand how the game should be played from 144p japanese arcade footage. Never found a local community or other people to play with, barely an online presence either but we loved it so much, it really jumpstarted my love for fighting games, even more than games like sf4 had done (anime fighters the GOAT). Had to wait years for the Arcsys EU releases back then, the 2 year wait for CP was painful.

I first picked up CS Extend on PS3. Always loved the look of the game. Was intimidated by the difficulty, but knew in my heart that I would end up loving it later as I got better at fighting games. Ended up getting Chrono Phantasma around the time it came out too, since I did have a friend that was into it. By the time Central Fiction came out I was feeling a little fatigue from the series, since it just felt like CPEX just came out. But CF was getting phenominal reviews at the time and I had more than one friend at that point that was greatly into the series. So I ended up getting it on PS4 and later Steam when I became a PC gamer just a half year before the rollback netcode testing started. I have been heavily addicted to that version ever since. I not only play with my best friend, but multiple friends accross the world on a fairly regular basis! By far my most played Steam game at over 11,000 hours and nowhere close to bored with it. It is a 10/10 video game. It might be the pinacle of fighting games. It may be the end of the series as we know it (have heard Entropy Effect is very fun in its own right), they gave us a game that we can enjoy for as long as we live. More BB content please!

I'm pretty casual but BB was the one franchise I was least casual for, I played it regularly at the arcades near my school. it's the most mechanically diverse fighting game with each character basically playing their own mechanics, especially those who have real time physics like Rachel, Tager and Kokonoe, manipulating space between you and the opponent.

My favorite was definitely Central Fiction, but I had probably played Continuum Shift the most with my friends. CF makes me feel a little sad… I came into the game pretty late and by the time I did, the game was mostly dead. None of my friends really liked BB anymore. I felt so happy when they said they were adding rollback to the game. New players, new life. Came back and picked up a new main. I’ve bought so many copies of this game for other people trying to get them into fighting games and Blazblue. Seeing that ArcSys continues to acknowledge the game gives me a small hope that they are still thinking about making another someday.

Favourite version of Blazblue is a tie with Continuum shift extend(when I started to get decent at the game) and Chronophantasma extend. Not too sure on what my favourite match is as it keeps changing. But one off the top of my head would be from Evo 2017 between Poropicho vs Beautifuldude. Shenanigans everywhere.

I remember I had recently gotten into Guilty Gear with #reload when I first saw the BB trailers not knowing that it was the same devs. My BB experience started with me playing CT on a potato, but it wasn't until I got CSII on 3ds that I really started learning and understanding the game and its mechanics. Even though the 3ds version had its issues it was still portable and made it easier to experience, especially the story mode which was time consuming with all its routes and endings ,but it made me understand and like the characters. So many sweet memories playing BB even if it was just by myself since I never found a FG community in my city. BB may currently be stuck in uncertainty, but at least CF is so much fun, and who knows, GG revived with Xrd and it was in an even worse spot at the time.

Unfortunately by the time, I think it was Continuum Shift (I think that's it) came out I had went through a series of unfortunate events, but the main one was injury to my hands at work and that put me out of commission for years, so I obviously I missed out on a lot when it comes to playing. I say that because I'm playing catch up now and learning the game and going back to watch a lot of these matches has been great. Favorite match at the moment might be Fenrich vs Itou or Ryuusei. They seem to go back and forth a lot, and to see how Fenrich pilots Jin through Carls BS is on some inspirational stuff lol. Now for you Jiyuna, what do you need from me to get you to do Hakumen and Litchi trials? 😈😂

Brother, I would happily watch an hour or more of this. As jank as Calamity Trigger is, and as bad as the PC port, which is the version I've played, is, I had a good time playing it. Continuum Shift Extend is what made me fall in love with the series, though.

Aight enough with the BB content. Can you break down the lore of the Granblue characters since no one in the west knows about any of the characters/lore

BB was the first fighting game I ever played (BBCPEX on the fucking XBOX man) and I was absolutely awful at the game and just tried learning the combo trials then hit a mf'er with it online lol now we in CF2, im enjoying the hazama life more than ever, and now having played so many other FG's since then, im 100% putting it down to BB as the reason i play them (and found the love of my life, Tekken) just waiting on that all new BB game... that isn't Entropy Effect (great game too btw) lol
