Call it in! Massillon struggled to find a week 9 opponent this season. Most teams in Ohio are league locked weeks 3-9 but Massillon is independent and makes its own schedule.

It is for sure. It is a high school rivalry of course but the intensity has the feel of a state championship game or a low level college championship. Both sides take this thing very seriously. Game has been sold out crowds of nearly 20,000 or 24,000 99% of the time regardless of records. Weather is the true determining factor of crowd turnout. Massillon's Paul Brown holds almost 20k. Cantons Hall of Fame Stadium holds 24k.

@@JimTrussell I actually am a sports reporter for the Morning Journal in Lorain. We cover teams like Avon and Olmsted Falls. Seen Massillon play Avon in a playoff game a couple of years ago. Tons of respect for them

@@PerezSportsOfficial gotcha! I am a McKinley grad... Massillon fans are not my cup of tea! But they are a large portion of my audience. And I was at the Avon game! Just didn't record that night. Unfortunate I remember they were plagued with injuries.

Thank you for your comments! I take it that you found my channel through the Lakers video! But this high school rivalry is literally the greatest high school rivalry! ESPN, Sports Illustrated, dubbed it a long time ago in the 90s. These two communities are responsible for jump starting the NFL. The first play book was given out here! Lots of great rivalries all around the country no doubt. But this is the Superbowl, Rose bowl, and Christmas all wrapped up into one for us.

I recommend the "Timeless Rivals" football documentary that can be found on my main page. Real documentary made by someone else in 2017. Made public on youtube in 2022.

Best Massillon teams ever the last five or six years lol and they beat McKinley by one or two possessions most of these games. Most of these games were really good games. If you don't consider it a rivalry just because it's been one-sided, then I don't consider Massillon a top tier football program because they haven't won a title since 1970. See how both of those things make zero sense?
