The greatest rivalry in Épée? 경쟁! Max Heinzer and Park Sangyoung's (박상영) history.

Max and Park are two of the biggest names on the men's epee circuit. Despite the vast experience of Max, in every encounter Park has gotten the upper hand. While their matches in Rio and Heidenheim were straight forward, their match in Doha would turn almost violent, with the pair having a discussion on Facebook (see below) where they argued and seemingly settled their differences.

Race famously does not get along with any of the Russian team Cheremisunov and Garozzo come to mind. They fenced a lot last cycle and always got heated

Max heinzer sprained his ankle just before that Rio bout (i.e. during his warmup right before the bout), what a shame

I didn't know that! Maybe that would explain the result. Though based off how Park was fencing that day, I wonder if Max could have won even without the sprain 🤔

@@smitchfencing True, he rinsed half the Swiss team from top 8 onwards and still had enough mental to completely fuck over Imre, imo he was a cheat code that Olympics

that was a colossal one... i wonder why max didn't question it as surely he should have remembered if he had been given a yellow card in the bout.... seems a bit weird....
