He didnt mention that you should have your scapula over the bar. and we can see that when he pulls the weight his body autocorrects his shoulders in right position and only then bar goes up

For conventional: I prefer pulling in socks because my feet are wide and flat... so every style of shoe feels weird to me. I just started training in sumo and wear chucks.

I use my Chucks while deadlifting because I already own several pairs and don't want to spend money on wrestling shoes (I already went broke when I bought some nice squat shoes). But if I did buy something, I'd either get the Sabo deadlift shoes or a pair of wrestling shoes. The Sabos are just wrestling shoes with a metatarsal strap anyway.

If you're hips are too tight to sit deep in the sumo position, how do you open them up to be able to sit in it comfortably?

Ever since I tried pulling sumo for a couple weeks I’ve had this popping tendon toward the back of my knee. It feels like a hamstring or adductor. Any idea why or how to fix it?
@ggsdude1
@ggsdude1 2 жыл бұрын
dynamic warmup and dynamic tretch and do some pre-hab exercises...its likely the muscles/tendons of hamstrings/ABDuctors/it band are not used to the new movement pattern.

@jimjones6901
@jimjones6901 6 жыл бұрын
FitAngie I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure sumo hits quads and glutes more than hams and glutes and the conventional deadlift hits more hams and glutes than quads and glutes. Obviously it depends on individual anatomy as well but that's what I've been told is true for the majority of people.
@AussieAngeS
@AussieAngeS 6 жыл бұрын
Jim Jones it also hits the quads I do agree but for me I feel it more in the glutes and hamstrings. I agree it depends on ones anatomy as well, I’ve tried both sumo and conventional, I do both but for my body I prefer the sumo more.

@@jimjones6901 correct. Sumo=mostly quads and glutes. Conventional=most hams, glutes, spinal erectors. Both hit all those muscles but with different emphasis

I'm the the kind of person who needs to squat wide with my toes out to break parallel. Does that mean a sumo deadlift may also be better for me mechanically? Or does it not really matter since my hips aren't breaking parallel on a deadlit?

@DiceMasterChannel 3 жыл бұрын
Vibram5fingers shoes are the best. They do require a correct running technique though, but it feels like running on clouds, sooo light. I suggest walking barefoot on grass/dirt during summers to prepare the soles and ankles strength. Calve raises also. They are the only footwear for workouts in my book 😁

Hey Aaron, got a weird question for you. 3 weeks ago I dislocated both shoulders and I would like to know when I can get back into squats and deadlifts. So far al I'm doing is some pt stuff and safety bar squats build with straps and a pad.
@SquatUniversity
@SquatUniversity 5 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear about the injury! Have you seen a physical therapist yet? If you're not longer painful, its going to just be a slowly ease back into lifting (lifts like back squats or deadlifts because they're not over the head or away from the body will be easier to return to than overhead lifts as there's less demand on shoulder joint stability.

@@SquatUniversity yea I'm working with a PT now but he wants me to start deadlifting after 3 months like al my other lifts. I probbly give it a go with 1 plate a side after 6 weeks and work my way up from there. Thx
@SquatUniversity
@SquatUniversity 5 жыл бұрын
Yes go very slow on the return and use slow tempo movements. Using your stability exercises from PT before you pick up the bar can be helpful as well to prime strength and stability of the joint.

I have a question. How can one find out if their quads are weak? What defect will you see in the back squat? Also, what will you notice on the front squat compared to the back squat in weight when the quads are weak? I have a feeling my quads are weak🤔

I prefer doing front squats to strength my quads over the back squat. It depends on ones anatomy to be honest, but for me I have built up my quads a lot doing front squats and have become stronger
