I Saw The Green Hornet TV Series When It Was A Currently Shown on TV Way Back in 1966-67, And It's Very True, The Green Hornet Should've Been A Regular TV Series A Lot Longer Than It Was.

This is great stuff. The first ever green hornet show I've ever watched in my life. What a nice story, succinct, 25 min of escapism. It is very telling of the 1960s, everyone is "proper", properly dressed, properly behaved . What a nice time the 60s must have been , at least in theory.

I could really see that the relationship between Reid and Scanlon could get strained. I'm sure if there was a second season, that would have been on the cards for character exploration. Reid as Hornet, kept pushing the envelope, eventually a boundary would have been breached. Such a great show. It has a great tone to it.

Compared to this show, Batman was more like a cartoon for 5-year olds. 🤣 The Green Hornet was just way too ahead of it’s time. - I’d bet if someone was to re-boot this series, it will be on for several seasons today. Indeed! I`ve been binge watching the whole series and of yet the only two times the Hornet didn`t flat out got the better of someone was in two 4-1 scenes. This one here and another in the 13th ep in a private airport. Both have one thing in common too, they happened in a enclosed space. Outside of this he also got shot by that policeman in another ep. Kato was knocked down by a surprise shot in "Green Hornet and The Firefly" but outside of that he`s never been in danger either. Still need to see the rest but that`s quite the resume. Kickass show, great sound design and asthetics.

wish it wasn't so dark in all the fight scenes so you can see the action. Also I've noticed in all the episodes where the Green Hornet zooms around the corner in his black car, there's always that one guy on the sidewalk in a tan overcoat who looks back at them as they drive by. Same scene used in all the episodes.

Various comments about the series being too dark often is understandable. I feel the same. But my research reveals that the Green Hornet usually went out at night, as the night cover was needed being a notorious criminal to most people. So they filmed during the day with filters, also to show the black beauty's green headlights, so I guess they had a problem and that's how they solved it. I suspect it was one reason why the show wasn't renewed; too dark for the kids and adults to see. It's a shame when we can't always really see Bruce's realistic gung fu due to the dark, especially as he used a lot Wing Chun rapid punches and kicks, a style I studied myself, so I recognise it. Still, it's a great show despite this drawback. I love Bruce's last kicks in the final scene of this episode with the Prince looking on amusingly. A little look from Bruce to top it off.

I really wish that people that post regarding the Green Hornet would stop comparing it to Batman. It's like comparing apples to oranges, they are different shows. One isn't better than the other, although you may like one more than the other. GH is my second favorite show of all-time, I like everything about. I also enjoy Batman, especially the first season. I do think that due to the no nonsense way that the Green Hornet was played it has aged better than Batman. Van Williams was really good as Britt Reid and nothing needs to be said about Bruce Lee. It's all been said.
@Lcoch2482
@Lcoch2482 3 жыл бұрын
I love them both. The problem for people looking back at the Batman series is they likely don't understand that the show was a direct reflection of the comics of the time so the campiness was a direct result of that. Adam West could well have played a darker and grittier Batman but he played it the way it was written. GH never changed tone so it was written more like crime noir. To this day both series are iconic. If it hadn't been for Adam West and the phenomenal popularity of the series the comics may well have ended in the late 60's. For this reason he will always be the true Batman. Van Williams was a real life hero long after he hung up his fedora and mask as an auxiliary sheriff's deputy.

The shows were very different: Batman (then) was almost a live-action cartoon; Green Hornet was pulp-y noir-flavored action.
