Imagine getting to work directly with nintendo, and you just end up being a huge disappointment to shiggy and the crew, getting pushed out, and your former studio makes one of the greatest games of all time while you end up vanishing from the industry.

I was but a child when this came out. But I remember seeing reviews in magazines. A part of me is glad that it exists and I’m not crazy. The other saddened that exists at all.

This is barely even a game. Say what you will about BMX XXX, at least was a game. The Guy Game is just a crappy quiz show that doesn't even play like a game whatsoever.

I used to work at a Gamestop, and despite that ban we had a used copy of The Guy Game for PS2 sitting on our shelf for a few years. The price dropped to $1.99, then eventually to just 99 cents, but it never sold. It was still there when I stopped working there.

This guy is the very definition of the "tech bro" term. Lots like him flocking to Austin. He lived off a diet of cocaine and Monster Energy Drink. He's Axe Body Spray in human form.

Still rated higher than God Hand by IGN. Or at least it was, before they took down the review because the game featured minors.

I think one of the reasons why the gameplay is considered somewhat confusing is because you need to not only get the questions correct, you also need to guess whether you think the girl is correct or not, when you don’t know their personality or anything.

I always wanted to know the deal with Advent Rising.

Hey, I actually had quite a bit of fun with Oni. The fighting mechanics and amount of combos for that type of game was interesting.

My money on what happened to Jeff Spangenberg is that he changed name and went to another line of work, in order to escape the ridicule and shame that his real name has become.

is this game awful and sleazy? Yes. Was this also a Blockbuster rental that held a lot of intrigue for a creepy little 6th grade me with no internet access? Also yes.

I would be interested to see a Wha Happun on the fall of Telltale games.

Kane and Lynch might be good for a what happen given how much attention it got before release and the effect it had on Gamespot. Also it's possible the series was going to have a shared universe with the Hitman series though I could just be reading to much into an easter egg in Blood Money.

In the game store I used to work at, we had a copy of this game, but it was sitting in our "to be marked" pile for years because we didn't know if it was legal to have or not. Also the narrator sounds like Ben Schwartz. I just pictured Rutabaga Rabbitowitz narrating the game.

The fact that the “host” feels he has to keep his hand on every girl’s back the whole time makes me want to vomit it’s so creepy.

You think your game can grab the appeal of more male gamers in the same era as games like Viewtiful Joe, Doom 3, and Burnout 3? The balls on this guy Jeff were enormous.

But the biggest question remains; if the girl was underage, HOW did she get in the first place? Apparently it can be assumed she used some sort of fake ID and was committing fraud. Then, after that, what caused her to file the lawsuit lead to three possible theories, which is probably the most interesting from what I've seen spectulated in many forums; A: Her parents found out she used a fake ID and got into the Guy Game without their knowledge. (easily debatable) B: Her ex-boyfriend discovered that she starred in the game, and pressured her. (the part where she found out her footage was used) C: She outright filed the lawsuit originally for false advertising or something like that (one spectulation is that she thought the Guy Game was something else entirely and was just for fun) OR D: They didn't require IDs (also illegal) for the Guy Game. When I first saw this, I first didn't get it; I almost thought it was ironic seeing that whoever sued actually got in the first place. Turns out the 17-year old _didn't know_ if this was just for fun or was just some sort of paid sponsorship when it was actually the latter, and I'm betting A/B, where either her parents or her ex-boyfriend found out she was in the game. But yeah, that game sucked and had a stupid idea the whole time.

What happened for Advent Rising! Seriously what the hell happened that game vanished almost instantly!

KOTOR II came out four months after this dumpster fire

I use to work at a used game store in 2015-16... a copy of guy game slimed it’s way into our ps2 section. At a low low price of 4.95 and addition to a government list.

Here's a suggestion for you: Night Cry. The spiritual successor to Clock Tower, created by the creator of that series. Had a bunch of insane talent behind it, including the director of Juon and the composer of Symphony of the Night. An utter dumpster fire in every way. I want to know just got the game crashed and burned the way they did. I'd love to see you do a Wha Happun of that!

What I'm surprised about is that I've literally never heard of this game until I saw a WatchMojo video talking about what were the worst games that were released every year from 2000 to 2020. I was born in 1988 and I remember seeing those ads for those very sadistic girls gone wild videos at the time but I don't remember this game. And yes I call the girls gone wild videos sadistic because it's pretty clear they are just making these girls do these things against their will by either paying them a whole lot of money or because they're drunk. It's very messed up actually, but probably not worse than this game.

The Guy Game looks like a cheap game show they would air on your LOCAL BROADCASTING STATION at 3 in the morning after all those informercials about grills and can openers.

How is the original game actually a collectors item? It literally features indecent material of a minor, surely the ebay sellers should have their accounts terminated or something.

Would you believe me if I said that back when Blockbuster was a thing, this game was on the rental shelf for the OG XBox? And every time I saw it my first thought was along the lines of "Why the f*** is this here and how do I make it go the hell away for good?"

I remember Larry Bundy Jr talking about this. Man, that whole story was wild, and the revelation that one of the girls were 17 was a twist I never expected. This game has become one of the only games that has become illegal to not only sell, but own in at least the US as it basically has been deemed as CP.

Spangenberg and Top-heavy productions sound like something you would find in the porn industry! I still can't believe this "game" exists and Spangenberg of all people was responsible for Metroid Prime.

This makes the early Leisure Suit Larry games look like wholesome family friendly Christian games.

It's funny how offensive this game is. I don't need to say much about the objectification of women in this game I guess, but I feel like it's offensive towards men as well. The title proclaims that this is somehow the epitome of what guys like, as if men's standards were so low they'd be content with utter trash as long as a girl flashes her boobs once in a while. If you were to create an opposite-sex version, i.e. "The Girl Game", it'd be a badly made dress-up and make-up doll and a couple of beefy dudes flexing their muscles and flashing their penises.
