At first, I am afraid that Max would betray Celia in the end because most of the movies I've watched is like that, but instead he surprised me with his kindness and became one of the people that helped Celia achieve his dream. I am really glad for Celia and I wished I can find a friend like Max

As someone who had untreated kerataconis for years (hard contacts used to cost 5000+ and were never covered by insurance) you learn to adapt. Now granted mine wasn't 95% blind, but anything part 6 inches was still a blur. Ngl once I was finally able to afford the contacts for the first time and was leaving the eye center I legitimately cried. It'd been years since I could do something as simple as read a menu at a fast food place. Thankfully now though the price of the contracts had dropped to 2k, and they're considered medically necessary.

I assume they wanted to have some type of very positive movie, but I would have preferred a movie on his real/full life. It was way more dramatic and at times very hard. Portraying just the happy end lets people believe that if one works hard enough everything is possible and there is no need to change people's mentality and the legislation or open/continue the discussion about same rights for people with disabilities (although, the laws exist, the employers just jump through hoops to avoid complying with them).

@@beatm6948 You are born after 2000, aren't you? The guy was born in the 60s, so he became blind in the 70s. At the time people with disabilities had little support/rights in most countries. They still have little support and rights in most countries nowadays if we are honest. Germany (he lived in the GDR at the time) is one of the countries where currently people like him have support (at least in theory), but that is unfortantely not the standard...

Having to spend the extra work constantly to familiarise himself with the stuff around him without the ability to see on top of doing the same work to the same quality as everyone else is very time consuming. The people around him taking a few minutes or maybe an hour to help aren't working that much extra to help him, especially compared to how much extra work he's doing himself on top of helping his friend back here and there.
