The show would never have survived this long without Amy and Bernadette. How many jokes can you make about 4 guys who can never get a date with women especially when one (Sheldon) never seemed to want to? And once you put Leonard and Penny together as a couple, where do you really go with the show? What changes? You just put them together and break them up and then what? The show would have lacked versatility and direction.

you finish the show. Sitcoms tend to always have to involve love relationships, this show had the chance to showcase another way of being happy without love partners and they wasted it. What once was a fun show about geeks is now a regular sitcom where the dudes are a little weird because the girls have made them more 'normal'.
