This pod has fundamentally changed the way all sports media will been seen moving forward. The debate shows will die with their recycled topics and ridiculous player comparisons. This is a new movement. Strap yourself in because we are watching pioneers.

I know Bron is Bron, we all do. But JJ is sort of ridiculous. 15 Year NBA Career as a starter, one of the top snipers of all time, illustrious college career, multiple years broadcasting his own brand and actual NBA games and shows. He’s an absolute titan in the basketball world in his own unique way. Hats off, honestly.

Here's the list of the terms they used throughout the episode: TILT. A double from the baseline. FIRE. A double from the nail (center of the free throw line). HEDGE. A defensive tactic that involves the screener’s defender momentarily stepping out to defend the ball-handler in an attempt to slow them down and prevent penetration. BLITZ. Double-team of the ball handler on the screen. GHOST SCREEN / BLUFF SCREEN. When a player jogs toward the ball handler like he is preparing to set a ball screen, but at the last second sprints to open space. TAG. An aspect of a pick-and-roll defense in which the closest help defender (for whom the ball-screen is moving away) briefly touches the roller before sprinting back out to his original man. TWO-NINE. The number of seconds (2.9) a defender can occupy the paint without being an arm’s length away from an offensive player. VAREJAO SCREEN. To flip a ball screen (changing the angle) at the last moment before contact. BLIND PIG. A three-person backdoor action in which the ball-handler passes to a big, who passes to a guard running by him toward the hoop. POST SPLITS. This action is triggered by the ball being entered into the low post. The player who makes the entry pass will immediately screen away for the next closest player. These two players then “split” apart from each other off this action. PICK THE PICKER B.O.B. (AKA AMERICA’S PLAY). A baseline out-of-bounds play where one player cuts to an area of the court to set a screen for a secondary player. After that, the initial screener seeks to get an open shot via an additional screen. INVERTED PICK-AND-ROLL. Like a traditional pick-and-roll but the roles flip where a guard or wing sets a screen for a big. DHO (DRIBBLE HAND OFF). An offensive tactic that involves one player literally handing the basketball off to a teammate. UPHILL DHO. Another term is grenade. It’s when a player has the ball on the block and he dribbles back towards the wing or slot on the same side to hand off to a teammate. CHICAGO CUT. A post feed followed by a basket cut made by the player who passed the ball into the post that turns into a down screen for a big at the weak side low block. PINCH POST. An offensive series in which a big near the weakside elbow is used as a playmaking hub (while no other teammates are between him and the closest sideline). ATO. After timeout plays.

Skip Bayless could probably never process an ounce of this information.

The fact JJ gotta explain basic terms before starting says a lot about how fans have been dumbed down by these sports shows and nba pundits that only talk about “is he a leader” “who wants it more” “who’s the goat” “what’s their identity” etc…

This is gonna be the best sports podcast of all time. No beef, no gossip, just two guys chatting about what they love the most

This is much better than watching something like ESPN. You actually LEARN about the game and not learn about drama that doesn't matter. I will be watching as many of these as I can. Good stuff.

JJ said it’s not the job of the nba players to educate the public about the game. And then makes the most educational nba podcast/show in history with the best player since MJ. Bravo.

bro I'm a casual so 99% of this goes over my head, but listening to greatness talk sports intellect is the most refreshing change from these debate shows talking absolute nonsense. love the pod, can't wait for more.

I'm a woman who's into sports but these conversations are fascinating to be because no one brings this level of detail to podcasts/conversation.

That's why it drives me crazy when I hear people say this era doesn't play defense. So much spacing, players IQ, makes it so hard . Great watch

I absolutely love this show. I started playing ball at 10yo, I am now 53. As a lifelong fan of the game, this is all incredibly refreshing. Basketball is not all about dunks, highlights and drama. Basketball is a thinking man's game.

I still can't believe this content is out there, just like that. Crazy, it's crazy that basketball fans all over the world can see and listen to such detailed talks with tons of basketball and sports wisdom. There are no words to express appreciation for that. Huge respect.

Among dozens of basketball programs, this is a channel that actually talks about basketball. 51 minutes were over in a flash. It's amazing.

I love that they describe the plays so perfectly and then show examples. Hearing JJ describe the blind pig, then seeing how it's ran properly and effectively gave me a new found love and respect for the intricacies and technicality that the game takes.

Imagine if Kobe were sitting down with them...

loved the pod, but one thing - I think when JJ is explaining all the terms at the start, it would be very helpful to show a clip that demonstrates the concept, as someone who isnt the most technically sound basketball watcher, it would be a lot more helpful to view the play than try and imagine it in my head.

I love how JJ explains all the technical terms and concepts before every episode, it definitely bless us casuals with a lot of interesting knowledge and appreciate watching basketball more.

The way LeBron sees the game as a team player and his legacy is always down played because of that, shocks me. He’s a team player who dominates all individual stats, it’s so special!

I love how you included the WNBA clips here. Because that league is loaded with simple fundamental plays that people don’t see.

this one episode alone is bridging the gap from casuals to diehards but at the same time widening the gap between the old media and the new. this is the beginning of history

These 2 episodes have re sparked my interest in Basketball. I'm going to watch the Playoffs & look for match-ups and reads.

This is the best version of basketball fandom. I can't wait to watch this week by week and then a week later watch them all back to back again and still pick up things I didn't commit to memory.

This is all gold. Two of the smartest guys in the game chopping it up... WITH translations for laymen. Feels like a privilege to be in the room with these guys.

I love that JJ does a sort of Appendix before the video for those who don’t know certain plays or actions, and also how when they talk about them it’ll come up on the episode. Great touch

I could’ve listened to this nonstop for 2 hours. The podcast game is getting so saturated I can’t sit through a 1 hour podcast that just talks about narratives and hot takes. This was a legit basketball discussion that explains a lot about modern NBA concepts.

Mann, this pod is addictive. And so refreshing to hear from savant without any yelling/screaming explaining the concepts of real basketball. If you really love the game of basketball there’s no pod/tv channel that does the justice to the game of basketball as this show does.

Ive watched basketball forever. Never knew the technical stuff. This is such a beautiful platform for people like me that doesn't understand the details of the game.

I wish I had free information like this as a kid growing up. The fact that one of the greatest minds in all of basketball is giving out game like this is insane to me.

The intro segment breaking down concepts, the free flowing convo between two great bball minds, the well cut and placed videos showcasing the concepts. Wow, this is a cut above anything that came before

This is 5 on 5 basketball! Thank you, Bron. It’s not all about 1s, iso ball, a bag. That’s great for a 1 on 1 tournament, but this is traditional 5-5 on basketball. We are so captivated with 1 on 1 talent, we forget it’s a team game.

When JJ explains the concepts in the beginning, it would have been much easier to understand what JJ is saying if you guys also showed actual footage of NBA players in action. Enjoying your contents so much. Can't wait for the next one

Hands down, this is one of the greatest podcasts of all times! Everyone watching will undoubtedly try to remember all these terms and plays when watching any basketball game on any level. JJ is a great host and is so in his element as he talks X's and O's. I'm surprised he's not an assistant coach already. Maybe he will once Bron gets to own his own team in Vegas!

Teaching fans how to see what's going on while the game is on. This is big and will make fans appreciate the game more because they can understand now.

Watching LeBron on the sidelines versus the Bucks was truly something spectacular. He was coaching his teammates, specifically Rui on positioning, he was getting excited and congratulating guys when they made a good shot or play, and he was even counting down Giannis' ten-second free throws at the end of the game. The man loves the game of basketball at a level I've never seen before which is insane because most guys of his elite athletic caliber are coasting or retired at this stage of their careers. How many of us have that level of passion for our jobs after 20 years?

Man. Talk about work ethics meeting each other. LeBron said I’ll make time and JJ said I’ll give it the backbone. Much respect gentlemen.

I really like this podcast in the way it's structured. JJ explaining the concepts before he and LeBron talk shop makes things so much easier to understand.

Absolutely LOVE this pod. I’m a huge Bron fan and I’ve always been a fan of JJs game but I’ve gained a whole new respect for him as a player since his retirement just by watching him exhibit his extensive basketball knowledge on tv and on the Old Man and the Three. But this is just phenomenal! Watching 2 extraordinary basketball minds talk basketball from an Xs and Os perspective adds so much depth to my experience as a fan. Watching the game becomes more exciting and digestible just by knowing and understanding the intricacies of every play just a little bit better. Like when Kobe was doing Detail 💪🏽 RIP MAMBA 🕊️ I’ve been listening to this episode on repeat since it dropped 🙌🏽 I’d say I’ve listened to it about 17 times already 😂 I need the next episode NOW!! Haha

This really shows that the narrative of “they don’t play defense anymore” - is not true. The offense has just evolved so much, that it looks that way. The game is just on a completely different level than it ever was before.

This is gold. I'd love to see the breakdowns in the beginning moved to their own separate videos just so we can jump right into the content/convo. Then have the opportunity to check out the short form breakdowns for an explanation. This is amazing though! Can't stop tuning in.

The debate shows ignored the knowledge and tried to snippet LeBron’s comments as arrogance after the first episode. They KNOW this podcast is putting them into extinction. Keep delivering this! These are the honest conversations for the pure hoop junkies

This is what all real basketball fans needed!

I think this just shows how important for a team to have a player who is able to shoot after running, cause most of the actions they say need a shooter (split action, ghost screen, invert P&R, chase, etc). With a shooter, the options just increase a lot, and the defender is almost impossible to defend. So shout out to those great shooters in the league, and also those coaches who make them valuable in every action!

Absolutely loved this conversation! As a casual fan I feel like I learnt a lot and can watch the game more astutely with even more joy now. I think this would be even better if there were visual diagrams of the plays they’re talking about on screen as they’re talking about them. Amazing overall though, keep it going!!!

This format (JJ with the 10-minute lesson and then the ~40-minute conversation) is perfect.

I'm a musician as well as lifelong fan of basketball. Music documentaries, instructional videos, etc... have always been around where master composers/musicians break down what makes music great: the structure, the arrangements, the harmony, etc.. This podcast is my equivalent to that for hoops. It's been way overdue but we finally have the chance to hear the actual players break down the game and analyze it. The art of basketball. Amazing.

JJ is without question one of the greatest basketball minds who has the ability to articulate himself fluently. He's the best to me.

Watched yesterday and came back to show a friend a certain section... Episode 1 took a minute to catch on... but Ep. 2, 1.5 million views, 6000+ comments in 48 hours is almost pop music madness. This clearly shows how much this channel has captured an audience that is so over the Stephen A rants and ESPN flip-flopping on irrelevancies. This is a jewel for those of us who love the game and really appreciate the insights.

Debate shows get very annoying after a while. This kind of content is what the sports world really needs.

Since listening to the first episode, I became more observant on how LeBron plays. He's definitely one of the best basketball minds ever. "Make the right play" - he almost always does that. I know he's not that much focused on defense now but you can hear him calling out plays/rotations. And on times he needs to be defensive (like in crunch time), he delivers.

This is beyond incredible.... we are so lucky to hear these two talk ball!
