Keeping History on Two Wheels has a new series. The 8 most abandoned places in Georgia. This is the number 8 spot in our list. The Harville House. Built in 1894 as a one story family home for Keebler Harville after taking over the family farm which was started by his father in 1862. 10 years later as Keeblers family grew, Keebler expanded the house upward by adding another story to the house. Giving it a total of 14 rooms. It is still in the family today. With the farm being 158 years old and the house being 126 years old.

In the 1970s, when I was a little girl, we drove by frequently on the way to visit my grandparents. I remember telling my mom that when I grew up, I wanted to buy that house and restore it like new. My father informed me that the family would burn it to the ground before they'd sell! In school, my brother and I heard the ghost stories and would beg my father to drive by at night so that we could see if Mrs. Harville's candle was burning. He never would. His only comment was, "There's no such thing as ghosts!" I'm thrilled to see it's being brought back to life! And, if Mrs. Harville IS haunting it, I'm sure she's glad to see it, too!

So very glad to see this video- thank you for doing a wonderful job with it. Back in the day, when I was a student at Georgia Southern, we discovered this house one Saturday night. It was an awesome sight. We went back during the day & asked permission to walk around- such an awesome place. I'm amazed that it is still standing. I want to go back down & visit again. Thank you for making this video.

Glad you liked it. So many t I miss we pass things on the road and don't realize that there is a history and a story behind things that we see. Thank you for your time. It is appreciated.

I'm currently attending Georgia Southern University in Statesboro Georgia and just happened to stumble across this video at 2:30 in the morning. Absolutely incredible commentary. I feel like I'm listening to my uncle tell a story about "back in his day" or something. Keep up the good work!

I love this history. My maiden name was Harvill! No E on the end but my mom did a lot of genealogy about 30 years ago. She believed that some of our family's names had the E on the end. My mom just passed away and now it's my turn to keep our family history going on for our kid's generation. Thank you for this beautiful story

Good evening...i just watched your video's ...hope we can be friends ..my name is Latricia ....i don't drive so thank u for sharing my state with me ...its nice to watch things from years gone by ...keeps the history alive...i will never understand why folks want to destroy history ....makes no sense to me...but it will always have a impact on someone's life ...it just shows how hard people worked and loved family to make it...please keep doing what u do...the ones who messed up that home should be made to fix it and pay the family for destroying it...

Larissa, welcome to the Keeping History on Two Wheels family. And thank you for taking the time to watch our episodes. You are correct about how hard groups and families and individuals work to create. Regretfully, the Harville family does not know who the individual was who did the extensive damage. However they are in the process of restoring the house as we speak.
