What I like with your vids and riding is that you are also a very technical and intellectual guy. Most riders „somehow do it“, but cannot explain, investigate their movements and the balance of the bike. In order to get the sport to the next level we need to be more reflective what exactly is needed to play on a certain level.

This is a fantastic ride. The operating business helied up excavators and supplies to build this trail. There is a tremendous amount a workman-hours and money invested. They pulled all required permits from the province and local authorities to built and operate which comply with today laws and regulations. Next year a higher section will be opening. For people complaining about carbon footprint, they are all jealous because they can’t afford it. They are enviroMENTAList.

9km of downhills would a dream come true for me coming from the Midwest. Also does anyone know the best way I could get some riding in at Squamish (I.e bike rentals, trails, etc)? I’m making a trip to the area soon and would love to get at least a day of riding in

I did the trail in a early august. There were some pretty severe muddy sections but it looks like they fixed them up. Great video! Just love watching how you guys carry speed down through it all.

Brilliant trail, so much work must have gone into it! It also seems to have hit the perfect balance of roughness given how long it is. Still can't get used to the new gopro's distortion. Hope they bring in a software update soon to at least mellow it down.

Builder is Zander from Howler Contracting in Whistler (hired by AlpX/Blackcomb Heli to build it), credit to him, looks super fun and I hear they are putting in another harder trail (single/double black tech) for next season? You would know him from trails in Whistler he has built like Howler, Zanarchy etc.

Random question: I rode this (though no where near that level) - but my legs were burning the 80+% of the ride. I do squats and I ride a good amount, but something about sustained downhill causes my quads to burn and ruins the ride ---- does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? (I used to do Ironman and XTerra's - so I'm not a slouch, but on down hill stuff I'm a mess - I have to be doing something wrong.)

He could be that you ride tens? Cleat position below your shoes maybe a bit too far forward?

This is good insight - I do ride cleats and I they are likely more forward than others. I have started paying attention to peoples foot angle, either flat, forward slant or heavily slanted back, but it never occurred to me to consider positioning of the cleat. Mountain biking is my mistress - having downhill hurt less would be a huge win.

@@houghtonricky could be down to how often you spend with your legs bent a lot. Watch the poverty and see how often Dylan returns to a taller position where he uses his bones to support high weight, not his muscles. This is something you can feel just standing without a bike. Allow your legs to flex a lot when required for absorbing things for example, but not the whole time. If it's not this it'll for sure be the cleat position. Good luck

I have the same problem, my quads get really destroyed riding downhill and I ride flats. Once i started to think about how I rode berms it changed alot, dropping down the outside foot having the outside leg straight. Maybe that's not what's bothering you but thought I'd say what helped for me. Good luck!

@@wolfridsson7239 Really appreciate all the input - I will definitely explore - it sucks to have so much pain because it makes me less capable or less able to handle the bike correctly. Planning to be back in BC next year and hope I've made considerable progress before then.

Hi mate, I love your videos. I love your way of riding. I did NOT watch this video. BUT to be honest - these are not the times to do something like this, getting to the start of the trail by heli. Our hobby / your profession means a close relationship to nature and we should take care of our environment. Getting to a start of trail by heli is definitely not. Take it as a heads-up. I will keep watching your channel and sure to enjoy it. Hope you have a great day.

I agree with you we all need to be better. This is a commercial heli activity and something I will do very occasionally. The company also offset 100% of the CO2 emmissions.

ALPx and Tyax are 100% carbon offset. So, did they buy extra carbon credits? Probably not, the price of the ticket includes your offset. You can still argue that helicopters create unnecessary fossil fuel burning or you can take your virtue signaling elsewhere.

??? If you think like that mountainbiking isnt the sport. As a ski vacation is the holiday with most co² emission out there. ( ok a holiday on cruise ship is extrem too). I guess mointainbiking in a bike park or trailpark with lifts is although hardcore. I tryed to check the prices. this tour is not on the blckcomp helicopter side, but compared with other tours, one flight ist somthing between 200 and 1000 dollars. so you probably will do this ones. I go by this. I try to keep in mind to be inviroment friendly. Not more or less. But this people who play the green worrior, blaiming others of having to high emissions. And them feeling proud by using a paper straw in their drink or some other shit. But than flying on holiday, having all 2 -3 a new phone. I say live your life, just always notice your emissions, and i think you will di fine.
