fun fact: Snk actually tried getting the rambo licence for the arcade version, but were unable to secure the rights for the japanese release. for the US release, they actually begon nagotiations with the man himself, but these were haulted by other snk staff when the Ikari name started to be associated with the game. for the record, the japanese version of rambo first blood part 2 was called rambo: ikari no datsagocu or something to that effect-it translates to rambo: the furious escape. the final name can thus be considered a remnent of when the game was to have the rambo licence.

Nice documentary Patman! This is definitely an arcade classic. Of the ports I particularly liked the Atari 7800, and Atari VCS/2600 ports. Though admittedly the Atari VCS/2600 port is rather lacking. It along with the Atari VCS/2600 ports of Front Line, and Commando obviously reused many of the same gameplay designs, and elements though they were given their own uniqueness to each individual game. Hope your health continues to improve!!

I remember the 1st time I rented this game on the NES. I was at a Birthday sleep over & they let us rent one movie. I rented ikari Warriors! Birthday boy was kind of mad as he wanted to just watch Bruce Lee movies all night, but I stood my ground & got his mom to rent it. After the movies were over guess what we all did way into the night? We played ikari Warriors! We all knew that was Rambo on the screen & it was a fight to be Ralf & not Clark. Crazy to think Contra is an Arnold 2 Player game & ikari Warriors is a Rambo 2 Player game!

I thought there was a trick in the NES version if both players both tried to get into one tank at the same time. I mean the exact same time you would end up with each player in a tank. You were right about Ralf and Clark showing up in Metal Slug 6, but they were not in 5. They actually showed up in Metal Slug 7. Sorry for the nitpick, but it's still a neat video as always.

I played the Ikari warriors on the NES when I was a kid, so tough, I used infinite lives on game genie to beat it, it took forever to beat the levels, I’m sure I am gonna beat it any day now.

I remember way back as a kid I was at an arcade that had Victory Road's volume full blast. The whole time I was there I hear "Warriors! Show some guts! You can't escape me! Come catch me if you can! AH-HA-HA-HAA!" over an over. 😀
