I did a presentation on Dang Goodman when I was 14, but also could not find much information on her. However I could find an email, and she was kind enough to respond with all kinds of information. Including where she was born, her journey to New York, her start sewing and her beginning of the creations we love today. It was 10 years ago though, so I haven't been able to find the email in awhile.:(

hey, Daang Goodman's husband founded this shop in NYC called Trash and Vaudeville. it's super cool and because they connections with the maker of Tripp NYC, they have a lot of old deadstock tripp stuff that's left over from their warehouse in LA. the lady working there told me all this as I was buying a ton of old tripp stuff. They sell it at a reasonable price too, when the Tripp resurgence was happening like a year ago I found skirts that were selling online for $150-200 at trash and vaudeville for like $70. I would highly recommend you visit there if you're ever in NYC.

This video is freakin' awesome! I'm not a big fan of Tripp, as my style is more feminine, gothic, and romantic, but they produced some really lovely pieces back in the late 90's. I had NO idea it was created and owned by a woman! I always assumed "Daang" was a male name. This video is so informative! If you could (because I'm sure info is probably really scarce), I would LOVE to see a video on the 90's goth brands. Morbid Threads, Cykxtees, Begotten, maybe even Raven SDL? I see you already have a Lip Service video that I'm gonna watch next. Great work 🖤

Have you checked out the goth stores in Mexico? My mind was blown and I got excited because a lot of the stores are mom and pops (figuratively) who's seriously talented owners and employees make the clothes they sell and they're beautiful! . They're living the dream down there, I absolutely love it!

Wanted to know more history about this brand for context! Last year-ish I tried on a Tripp skirt but the store I was at was selling them at like 70 I think 😨 I was bamboozled because it didn't feel high quality, I knew the store was definitely overpricing. I looked them up and I think I found the same skirt for $40. Definitely considering it! I didn't know Daang Goodman was the designer at first, I thought it was some sort of slogan

i found three tripp coats for my wife by mere luck idk much as to im barely getting into it to suprise my wife with things from time to time ( all i know is space tag is true og old stuff) but i have no idea from what time period its all from and since i bought all 3 for 120$ i figured that was probably a good deal and theyre her size as well 1. one is black and purple with “fur/ruffles) neck and arm hand area 2.black and red with red stars on elbow area all red inside 3.just a plain black and red interior with no stars on elbows all have the same tag but im not sure if theyre old or recent tag is red and black. hiding all 3 away from our house since im planning on giving them to her as christmas presents. all in amazing condition as they were stores away for who knows how long from an ex goth turned pastor who i hit up initially for old band tees they were selling for funds for a church trip.

I couldn't find your Hot Topic video to say this, so I'll say it here: AVOID shopping at Hot Topic stores if you can. The company (and a few of their sister brands like Her Universe) don't respect the work of artists and designers as their property (intellectual or otherwise). They've even been known to reappropriate designs found on well-known art and maker sites (such as etsy and deviantart) and pass them off as their own. Sketchy af, if you ask me...

Sorry I know this is an old comment but its acutally very weird and interesting but hottopic did or still does have a weird agreement with deviant art that all the art posted on there is free reign for hottopic to use on merch, its deffinitely weird and sketchy but its part of deviant arts tos and stuff making it so hottopic cant get in legal trouble over it

I found a lovely pair of Tripp pants at my local Goodwill about 7 years ago for 10 dollars. They are the split colored blue and green tartans. The straps were missing, and that was the only issue with them. I ordered more from the website. They are slightly too big for me, but a belt takes care of that. I haven't seen any more Tripps at Goodwill yet, but maybe one day I'll get lucky again. I love the ones I do have. (Jan Griffiths).

Even better when they’re basically scalping stuff from the official website and passing it off as “vintage”. Like, Tripp still exists, if you’re not after a specific item then they have a pretty good selection of brand new items, especially now that they’ve brought back some of their older styles. It’s not like some defunct goth brands which are genuinely rare nowadays. Like finding mens Lip Service items is almost impossible now for example.

4:36-bottom left and yes, the psychedelic orange mesh shirt at 4:46-I'd cut a bitch for those and the Fluevogs if they fit me.I like the dress too. 4:48-I love the silver mesh screen but the damn thing buckles at the neck/chest, wtf? I've bought a few Tripp things from defunct boutiques like Villains and Dal Jeets, plain black tight skinny stretch jeans from the 80s on, because they were quality fabric, construction, and fit the best, a used red plaid dress (no bra needed!) and tight skinny bondage pants that I wore until they disintegrated but before that I made the mistake (only clean pants) of wearing them on a plane trip home and got held up by TSA at Denver International. Just wear your dirty pants, y'all. Tripp and Lip Service were what punks with jobs wore back in the beginning, I always had mixed feelings about that even when I worked and could afford it. I have the d.i.y. thing fully imbedded in my dna but I realize a lot of people don't have time or the skills to sew or stud things (please don't use your teeth to bend the prongs) plus a lot of it was pretty damn cool looking so I had to check my attitude. Do whatever you want, lol, my opinion about your clothes doesn't matter. Just don't lie or be a hypocrite about it, that does matter.
