I just saw a paperback book at Goodwill with an original price of $6.95 printed on the back cover. Goodwill price was $4.99 !!! They have being instrumental in driving other thrift stores out of business in my city. Now they do whatever they want as they have zero competition. But thanks for the phony video, as if you’re so concerned. You’re doing PR!

Goodwill gets all its inventory from FREE DONATIONS!! How can that even be considered “competition” with any other comparable store that has to purchase their inventory, pay for delivery trucks and fuel. You must have been PAID by Goodwill to make this video…shill!

These jerks have learned they can make a fortune off of vintage stereo nuts by putting the old analog receivers from makers like Pioneer, Technics, The Fisher, Marantz, Sansui, H.H. Scott, Realistic, Toshiba, and Kenwood on their auction site so bidding wars will drive the price of an old, most likely broken stereo unit that will need major servicing like re-capping from front to back, replacing burnt out dial lamps, realigning the tuner, replacing the tuning band, etc. into the hundreds of dollars where just putting it on the shelf locally would probably only get 20 or 30 bucks at most. They are profiting big-time by this smarmy move. They do this for tape decks, equalizers, turntables, and speakers as well. I think this is why I never see any decent components on the shelves of the Goodwills I shop in Jackson, TN anymore. It has been probably 4 or 5 years since I saw one single decent component on the shelves. Prior to that, I was seeing NICE Yamaha AV receivers, tape decks, nice speakers, etc. on the shelf on the regular. I have pretty much given up! And they have tons of nice, donated laptops. Those never make it to stores either. They also go to the auction site as does actual fine jewelry. Anything actually worth something goes to the auction site! The left-over trash goes to the stores.

Competing means _lowering_ your prices or not raising them. Underselling the competition.

It's nothing but sheer greed. Everything is donated completely for free and they Jack the prices up more than what you pay at a retail store now. They've started to price each individual item separately and charge like $25 or $30 for a used pair of tennis shoes. It's all greed and gouging the consumer.

Competition is not an excuse to raise prices, competition usually lowers costs by its nature. Goodwill is charging higher prices, because they can. If no one buys there then prices would go down or the store would go out of business.

Rising cost means a used trash can is the same price as a brand new one? Well that's unfortunate because it leads to people buying new waste to throw in landfills. Unfortunate

Problem with their excuses are corporate stores like Burlington,Ross,Target and Walmart have to pay for their merchandise and overhead getting no tax breaks. Thrift stoes get merchandise for free while getting tax breaks for so called charity work that don't do. 🤔

I was at Goodwill a few days ago. I can get a new shirt at Walmart for 2.00 more. Not too mention they had dollar tree items marked 4 times higher than what dollar tree sells them for. I will no longer donate to goodwill.

Nonsense. What they get is FREE to them. And no, they aren't "helping the community" nearly as much as you might think.

So!…is Goodwill now in the business of preventing others from making some money from resale? Are the the income police? Disgusting!

After watching the video and getting some context I think I'm finally ready to clean my plush for the first time 😢....... For context I got her when I was in middle school 7th grade so maybe 13 years old. I'm almost 21. .

No excuses they get items free and they shouldn’t over price used items to be in competition with companies that sell new items. And sometimes the old items costs more than the new items in some retail stores. Prices was raised to pay the CEO’s 💯

I always thought that goodwill was to help people who cant afford store prices, they get stuff donated and help us or less privelidged people and make money for doing it which is a win win, but things have changed little by little they quit selling certain items so they could monopolize on these items like jewelry and then they started their online store which i have never shopped on that its to expensive for used items! They stopped the dollar colors and dollar days! And i have not gotten any kind of discount from giving my number so thats bullshit its just sad that they always let the greed take over and it will probably blow up on em in the future!
