I'm also re-reading the hobbit right now and I love it even more than the first time I read it when I was younger. I'm planning to get this edition as well it's gorgeous 😍💖

It is a very re-readable book and one you cannot have too many copies of 😬

This was the third novel I ever read. I don’t even know how many times I’ve read it in my life.

I think along with Treasure Island it’s basically a hallmark of being a twentieth century boy.

This and Malazan Book of the Fallen are my top favourite books to read.

I’ve only read Gardens of the Moon so far but I’d say they are good choices 👌

I love The Hobbit! It’s such a wonderful story. Your newest edition is awesome. BTW…your bookshelves look fantastic behind you. Terrific video, AL.

Thanks Kat, I sure appreciate the compliment on the shelves. I struggle to know how to arrange the books though 🤷🏻♂️

@@bigaldoesbooktube1097 I struggle with how to arrange my books, too. I think it’s a common problem for us bibliophiles. 😊

They are nice books I own the Deluxe quarter-bound leather and the trade edition, the deluxe edition comes with an 88-page booklet , the edition that you have is printed by Rotolito, which printed deluxe editions with issues, hence harper Collins changed the printer to Graphicom, I paid £75 for slipcase leather edition , having used the SAVE40 coupon generated by harper collins themselves

Very nice 👌 I have looked at that edition longingly myself, very handsome.

Do you happen to have the ISBN for the regular hobbit that you showed in the plastic wrap? Thanks!

Yes it is; ISBN-13 978-0-00-783062-6

I bought both the UK and the US printings of this book a few months ago. Both arrived with slight shipping damage, which was annoying, but not a deal breaker. Rhetorical question: why can't book sellers manage to protect books adequately during shipping? It's not rocket science! Anyway, I notice that you protected the cover of the older Hobbit edition you showed with a plastic dust jacket cover. I need to do the same for a 1966 edition of The Hobbit that was owned by my dad. Where did you get the plastic cover?
@bigaldoesbooktube10976 ай бұрын
I get them from a company called Brodart, you can get them direct or pay a bit more on Amazon.
@-johnny-deep-6 ай бұрын
@@bigaldoesbooktube1097- Thanks. Yes, I see Amazon has some. My Hobbit edition is 8.25" tall, so I probably need a 10" or 11" tall cover to fit it adequately?
@bigaldoesbooktube10976 ай бұрын
@@-johnny-deep- I find the larger size scales nicely to smaller books

That is a beautiful edition, I love seeing the colour versions of pictures that are black and white in other versions, not sure I can justify another copy of it though.

Who made those leather Tarzan and Conan books on the shelf behind you?

I really struggled with it. Took me about five attempts. Four of those I fell asleep during chapter one. Hobbits and horses for courses, I suppose. Actually, £30 seems fairly reasonable considering. You talk about Book Tube. Is that on here?
@bigaldoesbooktube10979 ай бұрын
It has a slow build up it’s true. Booktube is the term for book content on KZfaq.
