Today, we're going to take a look at a dreamy knife with a dreamy name, the Holt Knives Morpheus. We'll see that it's easy to take apart and maintain, and a joy in the pocket, even if the price tag is a bit nightmarish.

If you are curious, the two indentations in on the blade are the steel type. We started using a simple 5 bit binary code to mark our steel so it can be easily identified during processing. The two dimples are 11 binary or 3 in decimal which is our code for Damasteel.

Thanks Joe! Just gotta say I love my Haptic #762 and can’t wait until I can get another Holt! Definitely will be a Morpheus next! Thanks again for clarifying! Hope you and your family have a blessed and very merry Christmas and happy new year!

For me 1200 bucks is an insane amount of money to spend on a knife... but.... as a society we have some people spending that much on a smartphone every other year that ends up broken in a drawer or a landfill an nobody gives it a second thought. If you think about this knife as a heritage piece that will last you a life time suddenly it doesent look so bad. That is if you dont lose it :D

Got one for my birthday this year, and it is precision machining personified. I opted for a more plain version, which is my preference, but it’s still the most I’ve spent on a knife.

Thanks for *another* great video! A new Shabazz review always makes my day just a little better! I'd love to get your take on how this compares to the Holt Haptic, and which you prefer. I'd also love to see a video comparing this to other comparably priced knives in this tier (e.g., Grimsmo, Herman, Shiro, Skiff). In any case, thanks again, and Happy Holidays!

From my small amount of experience in a material science lab, I have never seen a Rockwell hardness indent be that big. Usually for something as hard as blade steel you will be using a small diamond indenter.

Nick can we pls get a lil temperance 3 review in k390. Older for sure but i cant find any in depth reviews on it. I highly recommend it and think others should see it too.

For the strataspheric price some internal milling could be done, Grimsmo. All summed up great functional art knife.

I found with my Haptic that standard blue Loctite could break free in use - in fact the factory Loctite broke free after about forty deployments. I suspect the elastomeric thread locker is a response to that issue.

Have you affected your science coworkers carry because of what you carry? Been waiting to feel like I am safe spending on a Morpheus. Keeping a knife budget.

The two holes are for the detent nub and ramp. But when it’s open. So there not even a touch of double clutch.

I've been flirting with the idea of selling off some of my collection and buying either a Holt or Herman. What do you think is the better option? Do i stick with made in the USA or purchase from Poland?

Those are definitely not indentations from hardness testing. My *guess* is that they may be there for fixturing during manufacture.

I spent a couple years checking their website periodically and nothing was ever available. So I decided for that much difficulty getting it it’s not worth the price.
@TheStabbyCyclist7 ай бұрын
They primarily sell through their Facebook group, Instagram, or at shows and never through their website.

I wish the bearings were ceramic but there should be no problem swapping to Skiff or something if someone wishes to swap.

Yeah it’s honestly kind of weird to be using default steel bearings on something like this

I get that everyone puts skiff bearings in their nice knives for improvement. But these higher end knives should be using higher end bearings. Why do your best on every part of the knife and put in the cheapest bearings available. Kinda like buying a premium car and putting Walmart tires on it. Well it still rolls and good enough, send it

$1200! What's the difference between a $1200 knife and a $200 knife, aside from $1000?
@f4t4lity0r47 ай бұрын
From my experience, the difference will likely be: materials, country of origin, attention to detail, and level of machining quality. Ask any machinist and the tighter your tolerances get / more complicated your part is the exponentially more expensive it will be.
@kevola57397 ай бұрын
The tolerances of the knife vs the tolerances of the customer. Wherever you go, there you are. Personally, this knife makes me appreciate the value of my Rat 1.

Just here to watch you disassemble a $1000+ knife. If anyone can do it properly it's you.

I just got a Boker Barlow in Jute Micarta from Germany. I can get a 4 finger grip and it weighs in at one once. That will do 99% of your cutting tasks. That being said your knife is beautiful but, as you say, you have to be mad to punt up 1200 dollars for a knife that really doesn't flick any better than a Ganzo.
@iamgroot40807 ай бұрын
1200$ huh? Oh... I guess I really don't need to eat for a year

Don't care what it's made of no knife is worth that much to me cause at the end of the day it's a tool not a gold ring or diamond necklace
