I honestly really liked Home Alone 3 as a kid. It touches upon that child-like daydream of taking down the "super evil bad guys" seen in movies, especially scratches that itch when the villains are spies making that daydream even stronger.

I think my favourite part of the second movie is when they realise they forgot Kevin again and when at the airport trying to get a plane back they joke with the attendant that "At this point it's almost like a family tradition (to accidentally abandon their child)" and the attendant just looks at them like they are garbage

"When I grow up and get married I'm living alone!" I can't believe it took me this many years to notice that joke

People are giving home alone 3 to much of a hard time. It’s a great movie as good as it could be without the original cast. The only thing missing is the nostalgia element. Imagine it being the first home alone film you had seen as a kid and you’d absolutely love it!

One thing I will say about Home Alone 3 is that before the protagonist was introduced, they made it clear that the setting takes place after Christmas and New Year. So the purpose of having the message be about family and Christmas combo doesn't have to be mentioned.

Home Alone 1 and 2 worked because it was from the perspective of Kevin literally and figuratively, Kevin was written to be a child like the way he believes the story about Old Man Marley until he spoke to him. The concept was simple a child left alone only to realize he needs and wants his family while defending his home from burglars, not something as complex as international terrorists. Kevin in the original two had child like qualities, having fun alone, being scared and knowing he needed his family inspite of everything that happened.

Home Alone 3 was actually a pretty decent film that switched up many of the first 2s elements. But this could also be just nostalgia bc since I can remember 3 has been aired on Christmas consistently alongside 1 and 2. (not 4 and 5 tho, god forbid)

A good plot for a Home Alone movie would be where Macaulay Culkin returns as an adult Kevin and his son gets left home alone. I’m really looking forward to the release of Home Sweet Home Alone on the 12th.

The main thing I love about the first two it truly has that child like wonder of what would you do a young kid alone to yourself. In the first it's kinda realistic reading the naughty mags and such. In the second it's silly but true ordering all the pizza you'd want shopping around. The others don't have that natural wonder to me. It's more focused on why is this kid alone and how do we get him to make traps?

In defense oof Home Alone 3, the protagonist kid gets a character arc and is quite realistically a cheeky, mischievous 8 year old. Also, they established Alex as being really good with robotic things with his remote control car and channel changing TV thing. The villains weren't too bad because they were established to be serious, so it was funny when they fell for this kid's trap.

Home Alone is a classic and makes me think about how nobody wants to be alone for the holidays (how ironic, considering this year). Home Alone 2 may seem like a repeat just with a different location. However, I felt there were enough differences to make it its own movie. Plus, I felt it still had a lot of the heart that the first movie did. Home Alone 3 was.... okay. It's in no way as good as the first two movies and the plot is convoluted, but at least the traps are fun and they acknowledge that this is not the same family. After that, though, they were awful.

I LOVED _Home Alone 3_ as a kid. I also made the connection between Alex D Linz (Alex Pruitt) and the young version of Tarzan in _Disney's Tarzan_ and that made me like it more, because kids are pretty easily satisfied by banal shit. I haven't watched it in years, but I might rewatch it soon and see if it's *solely* nostalgia that made me remember it fondly.

I didn’t even realize there where five of these. The first two are iconic and regardless of which you prefer they’re both amazing. Home Alone 3, while not best as the first two did bring an interesting twist with having the parents return every day. I still recall a scene where Alex has to open the closet to put his moms jacket away cause he wants to hide one of the traps. As for 4 and 5, didn’t even know they existed

Honestly, you really did home alone 3 dirty. As a kid I loved number 3 (and still do now) but when I watched home alone 4 I was bored out of my mind. I disagree with you on every point you make about home alone 3 and I honestly think it's quite an underrated movie. I think it is one of those movies where whether you hate it or love it doesn't matter because you can still have fun watching the film. Home alone 1 and 2 are better films objectively than 3 but I think they are all on the same level of enjoyment Home alone 4 can die in a fire though :)

I actually don’t hate Home Alone 3. It’s got issues, but it’s still got enough going for it to still be entertaining. The villians still work in Home Alone 3 to me, because what I gather from them is they spent the early sections of the film outsmarting people left and right, only not getting the chip back due to bad luck. But, when they finally run into and subsequently go after Alex, they got overconfident and started messing up little by little until they lose their minds and in turn get reckless with the traps. It’s kind of like Harry and Marv in the 1st film, they hadn’t had a real challenge until they faced the main character, and they underestimate their opponent, which causes them to spiral out of control. I can agree Harry and Marv were given more personality, but the four spies to me were just as entertaining to see fail. While sure, there wasn’t much family drama with Alex, after two films of Kevin’s mostly unlikable family, it is refreshing to see that Alex’s family is more likable, the only thing they do wrong is falsely believe that Alex was setting off false alarms, and that honestly is more of the cops’ fault. The fact that they didn’t look RIGHT UP at the ceiling the second time he called them just showed they were incompetent, because any competent officer would have checked the ceiling and SEEN Beaupre there. So even then, I never blamed his family for doubting the kid, just the cops. In fact, for those who say there was no lesson, I understood that what Alex’s family learns is to have more faith in him. Not a lesson for him like with Kevin, this time it’s a lesson for the rest of his household. The traps… are entertaining as well. When you take into consideration how cocky these spies were when they finally went after Alex, it makes their failures way funnier. Alice in particular I laughed at the most because of just how increasingly frustrated she gets with the traps, especially when she injured her back. The look on Beaupre’s face in several traps is priceless, and Unger and Jernigan work because of how dumb they act, similar to the Three Stooges. A bonus, unlike the first two films, the third film doesn’t end with someone yelling at the main character, so it’s nice to finally have one film end on a completely positive note. All in all, whille I can fully understand why some people hate Home Alone 3, I just can’t bring myself to hate it, it has enough going in its favor to entertain me as much as the first two. But I refuse to watch any of them after Home Alone 3.
