at first I was a bit concerned about the terminology *'hot'* until I opened it up and saw those waving ivory locks.

Since dragons theoretically have fire wyrm DNA (I think of Dune sand worms), they may be hermaphroditic, like some species of worms. After watching House of the Dragon, and seeing Daemond finding the egg sack, I wondered if dragons might reproduce in a similar fashion as scorpions. The the male scorpion deposits a sperm sack on the ground, then through a mating dance where he carefully disarms a fertile female and maneuvers her over the sperm sack where she lays her eggs. The sperm sack fertilizes the eggs, while providing protection and nutrients. So their coupling could be relatively quiet.

If we're talking about Winterfell's dragons or fiery Starks, isn't Bran the Builder the most suspicious one? From what we know of Bran the Builder, he was: - A Stark who was said to have lived before, during, or right after the long night. - Learned and understood the True Tongue of the children of the forest and worked with giants. - Was more technologically advanced than anyone when everyone else was practically cave people. - Most likely knew magic. - Built the Wall, Winterfell, and Storm's End, built/renovated the Hightower, all of which are some of the most durable and impenetrable castles in Westeros history that have stood for tens of thousands of years. - Was commissioned everywhere all over Westeros during a time when long travels were harsh and deadly. So, since he was so technologically advanced, it makes me think that he came in contact with the Great Empire of the Dawn and learned from them. Or, maybe he was even related to them. And, if he was related to the Great Empire of the Dawn and could travel all over Westeros so easily, maybe he had a dragon too and was a dragonrider. All of this makes me think that Bran the Builder was the original child of ice and fire, like Jon from Rhaegar and Lyanna, but this time from the Great Empire of the Dawn and the ancient House Stark. This also makes him the original RGB character with red being having a dragon and building castles with dragon magic/dragon technology, blue being building the Wall with ice magic and all the House Stark during the long night stuff, and green being having greenseer magic and working with children of the forest and giants. If this was the case, it's also possible that the stone dragon in the Winterfell crypts was his too.

Speaking of dragons I noticed that baela and rhaena are twins and have opposite dragons. green/white MOONdancer and black/pink Morning. Aegon and his wife haelana have golden yellow sunfire and blue Dreamfire.

GRRM wouldn't drop that hint about eggs left at Winterfell for nothing 🙂

However, pine pitch is actually pine tar which has had the moisture taken out of it. Thus, pine tar will be more liquid and pine pitch is harder.

IIRC in Robin Hobb's work you have real dragons but you also have stone dragons which are carved out of magical 'memory stone' (self repairing) and then brought to 'life' by having the Skilled (mages) permanently fuse with them. The magical stone they use for the dragons is the same that was used by the ancient civilisation to build with. Maybe this is also the case for oily black stone in ASOIAF. Maybe the Seastone chair could be animated in this way too.

Thank you for pointing out that the Starks are actually the fighters against the cold and ice, even physically they belong to the warm side - black hair and grey eyes , sounds like something burnt ,like ash, and ash is warm- so even visually they are opposite of white , which is ice. And on the other pole you have the Targareyens which are the fighters against fire , who have white hair and blueish - purple eyes , like ice , to be visually opposite of fire (black - burnt)

I've always thought of the dragon that the dream showed was a meteor. Maybe showing how the first keep was destroyed.

I know you joke about your old essays and your two hour plus scripted essay podcasts, but those are honestly my favorite videos in your collection. I have an hour drive to and from visiting my girlfriend, and the lack of segues and questions helps me digest the content. I may be in the minority in this opinion, but that's fine with me. I'm one of the few people at my university who seems to enjoy lectures during class. I've always been more academically inclined, so hours long infodumps are great. I understand getting fan involvement live ups your views, but I hope at some point you return occasionally to long scripted essay series. If not, your content is still very much enjoyable. Thank you for pointing out the fact that the Starks stand against the cold vs ARE cold themselves. So much more makes sense thematically about the North and "ice and fire" and the Starks if people get this. The weirwoods of Winterfell are literally next to hot springs, (plus the white/red colors) Jon's direwolf literally has red eyes, etc.

I think the reason Storm's end and Pyke have round towers is because they are so special (Storm's end for example has a specific mythical reason for being round, and Pyke is also a sea castle) and also magical. For a historical comparison: it is true that as a general rule, older medieval castles have square towers, younger ones round towers (because they deflect missiles better), but people were already able to build round towers when they were still building square ones, but didn't do it for everything, because it is more difficult (especially the smaller the base of the tower gets). However, many very old 'castles' like the famous ring forts were round, and I think in that context the statement by the Marsters on square and round towers makes perfect sense: generally, older castles have more square towers than round ones. However, very old ring fort like towers, especially massive drum towers like the oldest keep in winterfell and storm's end make perfect sense, also even more if they are very special, close to the sea, and very magical.

Don't know if you ended up talking about this, but whats the deal with the crypts being filled from deepest to shallow? This leaves a finite amount of space with probably only room for a few more generations of Starks.

Maybe Jon is the stone stone dragon? His body is freezing in the ice cells currently. Him coming back to life is technically "waking a dragon from stone" too 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Not necessarily. Unlike most mammals, reptiles are not particularly vocal when copulating. Look at snakes for example, specifically the Anaconda. She is swarmed and covered in the males (which are much smaller than the Female), but they do not really make any noise, except maybe some dominance displays by the largest males. Another example is most lizards, they likewise do not really make any noise when copulating. Since Dragons in AWOIAF seem to be warm-blooded Reptiles, they would likewise probably not really make any noise when they copulate.

Ned the King of Winter, has a black sword red with blood, same as the rusted swords in the crypts, Oathkeeper and Widows Whale. Is it a hint that the Starks and the Targaryen are connected? Are they both Great Empire of the Dawn people? I think so. I think that is also the point of the architecture of the First Keep and the oldest castles in Westeros.

I'm 100% sure that the Hills of Norvos are also somehow involved in this, being 'an entrance to the underworld' according to legend. And the Faith of the Seven's origin story, with all its star-plucking and willowy maids and walls being painted by men a long, long time ago, is set around there. By the way, could it have been Silverwing who laid a clutch of eggs when Alysanne visited the North? That whole trip seems rife with actions that are aimed at protection against an invasion of the Others. No text makes mention of it, but I wouldn't rule that out.
