Sometimes the pressure to cheer up actually holds you down. With a little more presence in your pain, you may find the very inspiration you need to bounce to new heights. Most motivational speakers prescribe making lemonade. Scott Greenberg is all about the value of the lemon itself. While a graduate film student at NYU, he was diagnosed with cancer. Inspired by his grandmother, a “Schindler’s List” Holocaust survivor, he beat the disease and went on to run a marathon, perform stand-up comedy, run multiple, award-winning franchises, write a book, and beat cancer again. He’s given presentations in all 50 U.S. states and throughout the world to corporations, associations, government agencies, athletes, and others looking to make their best even better. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

The part about “by trying to cheer yourself up too soon you may be depriving yourself of the very pain that could inspire a new idea.” 🤯🫣As a creative person struggling in the red zone, this is true. Thank you for shedding light on toxic positivity, your story is inspiring!

Excellent talk! The only thing better than watching it here was seeing it live! I laughed out loud and shed a tear and feel more hopeful because of it!

Scott, terrific presentation and right on the money. You’ve got a strong presence on stage, extremely inviting. Now I know who I can seek out, as you’re just a fence away and know I’m not going to hear a cliche or wall sampler. Thank you for this.

I so appreciate my friend Mari for recommending this talk. You've taken your hard won wisdom and shared in a useful and engaging way. Your encouragement to let yourself, and others, feel their feelings is such an important and rare one. Lead on.

Yep, we need to learn how to be creative after the pain instead of learning how to be creative to avoid the pain.

Eight years homeless, and I should be resilient. Instead, I'm in the nosedive from which I won't recover.
