Sean, great video and so right on the mark. I am 76 years old and have been involved with photography since I was 5 years old and have never lost the passion for the art. The wonderful ability to tell a story in one or a set of images is just incredible. At the age of 76 I continue to find myself learning new things everyday and even better putting them into practice. I learn from books, I learn from KZfaq, I learn from continuing contact with people as well as dogs and cats. One should never stop learning and expanding.

I’m not sure I can adequately express just how much this resonated with me. I’ve come to photography rather later in life than many having struggled for a long time to find a reason to and way in which to express my creativity. Running a small business of my own for the past three years has offered me the chance to develop personally in a way that nothing else has ever done and I find myself heading to university for the first time in September. I have already learned an enormous amount from books and online resources, but am looking forward to exploring some of your suggestions. I loved Mythos too - twice to date! Thank you for the time and intention you invest in what your share, it is much appreciated.

This sang to me. I work for an agency that works with Panasonic Lumix I was looking after their community site. It was the members that inspired me to pick up a Lumix and go shooting. From there I was carrying my camera and phone with me everywhere , playing with light angles etc. Your Instagram and and KZfaq videos also helped me. Along with other greats from the past. I knew then it wasn't about copying others. Today I have an Sony A7 mark one with 50mm (previously had a Fuji still use it too) I haven't even decided to get another lens as I think there's still more I can do with what I have. Primarily I'm happy with it.

They say that the right things happen at the right time. Its ironic to me that when I spoke to the universe that I wanted to take my photography to the next level in regards to reflecting more drama, passion and meaning who do I discover? Sean Tucker. I have the technical knowledge (mostly) but my photos feel flat and mute in message. You combining photography technique and workflow with a deeper dive into philosophy, vision and consistency is exactly what I needed at the right time. I spent my Christmas break binging on all your videos, and taking notes. Thank you for your authenticity, honesty and transparency. I found the voice I needed to hear and the inspiration I was desperate for.

I've been an autodidact since the age of 8 years. Going on 61 years of self teaching. I was originally set on this path by my beloved third grade teacher, Mrs. Lois Mahan. She had copies of several encyclopedias in our class in a small country school. She encouraged us to look up and learn about anything we wanted to learn once we were finished with our classwork. I would rush to get through so I could go to those books that began the path of opening the world of learning to me. Loved today's video.

In photos the most important is the message you want to convey, Spend all your time outside, in the street, with your camera, looking at life and the way it unfolds. An emotionless photograph is dead. The problem that a lot of photographers get is that they try to get too analytical with their photography. They are too concerned with composition, framing, shape, beautiful light, and they forget the most important thing to make an unforgettable image: creating an image that has heart, soul and passion. I was born in paris in 1950 at 12 My godfather offered me a camera then I asked my neighbor Agnes Varda how it worked I never stopped .Your videos are an important asset for photographers, it helps to move forward in the photo thank you very much

I'm still very perplexed about how it seems that so few photographers seem curious about light itself. There is soooo much to know about light! It is the most accessible gateway to the most funamental physics known to man (Quantum field theory, Relativity), but even just basic/common light phenomena such as refraction and diffraction are deeply insightful about the world that created us and what we can know, what we can see. Resources are available for everybody and it's not all hard dense stuff!

Thank you, Sean. Thank you for contributing to the ongoing unfolding we are as human beings. Photography - just any other form of art - is not about learning tips and shortcuts for you to master a particular branch or area, but fomenting a vision, a kind of perception that's unique and should be reflected through the eyes of your lenses. Thank you a million for encouraging many emerging photographers - above anything else, human beings - to never take the free ride in their own lives, to keep pursuing knowledge, to sustain a constant learning experience as the moment we stop learning, we start dying. Thank you for standing out among many KZfaqrs in that sense. I love your content. :)

Thank you Sean. This is my first comment EVER on a KZfaq video. As an avid reader for decades (like you: following formal education) I review my notes or highlighted text and have turned them into photo assignments. Current project is based on In the Shelter by Padraig O Tuama. This is what caught my interest: "To name a place requires us to be in a place. It requires close looking; it requires the dedication of observation and to commitment to truth. It requires us to resist dreaming of where we should be, and look around where we are." How simply this describes photography. Final note: music can do this as well. Cheers...

Sean, I love your videos. You take photography to next level which is art. You also explain everything really well. Thank you for sharing these tips. I love movies. Sometimes the story is really flat but absolutely love the colours, the camera angles, the textures of fabrics or landscapes or sound effects.. One of my favorites TV series was Le Miserable for the same reason. Thanks again, Eva
