The past century has introduced two major sources of information and social discourse i.e.conventional & social media; which are changing our narratives. Javed Chaudhry is a newspaper columnist in Pakistan. His series of columns have been published in four volumes in Urdu language. His most notable column ZERO POINT has great influence upon people of Pakistan especially Youth of Pakistan. He writes for the Urdu newspaper Daily Express four time a week, covering topics ranging from social issues. He also hosts a daily talk show on current affairs. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

میں ۲۰۰۹ سے جاوید چودھری کو پڑھ رہی ہوں میں ہمشہ یہ سمجھتی تھی کے وہ ایک غیر جانبدار صحافی ہیں پر اُنکے شریف فیملی کے حق میں لکھے گئے کالمز خاص کر کے حسین اور حسن نواز کے بارے میں لکھنا کے وہ اعلیٰ درجے کے انسان ہے ہیں ہر وقت باوضو رہتے ہیں نے میری آنکھیں کھول دی۔ دوسرا اُنکے کالموں میں اکثر باتیں ۱۰۰٪ سچ اور تحقیقی نہیں ہوتی وہ اپنے کالمز میں اکثر know facts لکھتے ہیں کوئی تحقیق پر مبنی بات نہیں ہوتی جو میں اوریا مقبول جان کے کالمز میں دیکھی ہے۔

Asslamo Allekom Nice speach. What I understand is too much knowledge is taking us to a ditch. Usage of social Media must be limited. And Cellular phone charges must be higher after certain time ( example after maghrib till 8 am or working hours) so the users can sleep batter, once they sleep batter then they give high output which Increases the productivity of social community.

Don’t understand why so negative about the speech, he has very well explained how social media is changing our minds, it could be positive or negative. He only highlighted to be careful of it, as fake news are a big issue these days. Try to understand the message. I don’t see any political influence in his talk.

Don't know whether to call this optimism or pessimism. Maybe mixture of both. Well mostly true with some rhetorical topping meant for good. We, Pakistanis, have some serious issue with doing research. We hate to do it. Can't figure out the reason. Hard work I guess. Most of our so-calles research is copy paste I.e. plagiarism but that's another topic. If anyone is interested in how media achieves this THE HIDDEN PERSUADERS by VANCE PACKARD is recommended. I haven't read Noam Chomsky's Manufacturing Consent yet.
