*My apologies for the inaccurate translation. Regarding the color-coded outlines in this film, of course, the animators used a computer to color the outlines. What I meant was that the animators colored the outlines frame by frame, rather than automatically adding all the light and color effects at once during the final rendering process.

I borrowed the DVD of The Garden of Words from library to watch after I watched Your Name. Thanks to your video, I now understand the movie a lot more! Good job!

Japanese culture and language are just so fascinating, Garden of Words is one of my favorite anime movies and it deserves more recognition 🙏🏻🙏🏻

The Garden of Words has always been my favorite Shinkai film, despite how relatively unknown it is. The first time I saw it, it took my breath away with how gorgeous everything looked. (Hand-painted outlines???) And for me, The Garden of Words has the strongest story, even though it's so short. It has a simple but strong theme, both characters grow and change by the end of the story, the pace is steady, but nothing drags or feels like it wastes your time. If I could only watch one Shinkai film for the rest of my life, it would be this one.
