Oh, yeah. Stage Bo is the antithesis of Real Bo. I'd even wager that this is why he does the job he does: because it's cathartic for him to let out all the thoughts that he normally couldn't being himself.

I love his answer pertaining to feminism, that he doesnt know about it enough to call himself one for sure, but in theory he could be, and how he describes calling himseld a feminist like calling himself a "civil rights activist for not being racist". Very well put. Smart. :)

@@applet4rts639 I don't think that was satire. This seems like a candid interview, not an art piece. I'm also not sure what he'd be satirizing-- men who are reluctant to call themselves feminists? If you're judging that statement off of this video I think you confused him trying to think out a logical and fair answer, which kind of ended up in decisiveness, to be shy.

It's nice to see that Bo Burnham shares my exact opinion on feminism. I feel like it's a massive slap in the face to call yourself a feminist if you do nothing to advocate for women's rights, so I don't, and I don't think most people should, they're just trying to ride the label to be perceived as a good person.

Sorry sir, didn't realise you spoke for the entirety of the human race. I was actually just looking for discussion rather than aggression, but whatever floats your low brow boat.
@rpgshadowmorn26837 жыл бұрын
Thank you connor for your opinions because too many people stay silent out of fear of their feelings getting hurt. I agree with you and what you explained is the very reason modern "feminists" Have destroyed the movements meaning because so many are a part of it but only want superiority. I always knew 1st and 2nd wave was good but 3rd simply fell off of the original goal. The first world doesn't need feminism but the 2nd and 3rd world countries need it yet you don't see these 3rd wave feminists trying to address that but rather they want to whine and cry about falsehoods and made up facts based on their opinions. Hell I would totally support feminism if they would go out and actually help those who are basically slaves in their own homes in for example the middle east or something.

well personally, i believe feminism is the label for someone who believes in women and men's equality but i see where you're coming from considering the google definition is the advocacy of women's rights and i don't exactly advocate anything. like i think being a decent human fucking being and not being sexist makes me a feminist but that also doesn't make sense.

i think the Word Atheist has lost its meaning in the last decade or so, it used to mean not believing in god or not believing in deities rather. nowdays like bo said it comes with a package or selfcentered pretentious crap nobody wants to put up with, atheists nowdays are even more vocal about how much they dont believe in things than people who actually believe in them, i think the question now should be "do you believe in god?" instead of "are you an atheist?".
@charliefonn10 жыл бұрын
I know i'm almost intentionally making a paradox by making this comment, but i'm an atheist. However, i'm not an atheist in the way you're defining it. sure i'm never the one to walk out of a discussion about faith, religion or society, and I tend to argue about religion as well as politic when i'm confronted with a certain statement/opinion that I really, really disagree with, but i try to stay respectful. (and now it's time for me to create a paradox) you can't redefine a word just because it's often associated with something else in the mainstream world. it's like trying to define what good music is, if you know what i mean. the point i'm trying to make here is that, sure people like "TheAmazingAthiest" do exist, but to make the assumption that being an atheist is being a narcissistic prick, is like making the assumption that all christians are homophobic, or that all muslims are terrorists.
@TonyStorm2110 жыл бұрын
whether we like it or not, the usage of words change their meaning, just like "you only live once" became the flag for doing really stupid things instead of being careful and cherishing your life because you know... you only live once. im not talking about every single atheist, im just talking about the ones who are extremelly aggresive and vocal on their beliefs, its up to you to believe whatever you want, that doesnt mean everyone needs to know about it every time someone mentions something related to Religion.
@charliefonn10 жыл бұрын
***** well, it takes two people to make a discussion. you can't blame atheist for standing up for what they "believe", there're just as many aggressive religious people as there're aggressive atheist. and atheism have always and will always mean "disbelieve in god" and nothing but that. and i'm going to say this one more time. "you can't redefine a word just because it's often associated with something else in the mainstream world"
@sheelamika354710 жыл бұрын
Well, atheist still has its official meaning, but, it is true that when (most) people hear atheist, they usually think of aggressive self-centered people. It's a stereotype born on the internet.
@trashbash200110 жыл бұрын
i don't think the meaning of atheism has changed at all really. Just people are starting to finally understand it more. And i completely disagree with you when you say atheist are more vocal than christians. I have 1,200 fb friends, and only a handful of them are self admitted atheists. The atheists are extremely quiet. Posting an anti christian post every once in a while.

So here's what I get from this: Bo is amazing, he's an atheist but leaves the heavy conversations for his act instead of getting involved with them in his personal life, he's a feminist but doesn't actively fight for it, and...he's taken. I mean, the other three things lead logically to the third :D .

I think that in saying he is a "feminist in the laymen understanding, or his understanding", he is probably like most of society who understands that abuse of anyone is usually unwarranted. Mirroring or mimicking I think is term. Everyone does it; for instance, the longer you talk to someone who has the habit of licking your lips, you'll start doing it too. It's just a psychological sign of solidarity, and the reason you do so many things like your parents. Because you learned how to do it by watching them and thus mimic their technique. At least, that's what I learned in Psych at high school. :P
