"One of the dumbest things I've ever seen", "There's no way that wouldn't be on camera" are we forgetting the fact that this is a sci fi movie about a fucking INVISIBLE MAN!?! Hell maybe he was able to reach the lens of the camera and cover it with a sticky note? Maybe he figured out where the security room was and got rid of the surveillance tapes? He was a pretty smart man after hell I mean he invented a fucking suit with an invisibility cloak, so just because it was not shown or explained in the movie it didn't mean that he didn't take precautions before committing the crime. People will always find something to complain about I swear.

@@whitemagus2000 that was not in the TOP 500 STOOOPID PLOTHOLES in this film. Yes, the concept is great. But the execution had umpteen insults to our intelligence. EX: she had NUMEROUS opportunities to PHOTOGRAPH or FILM shit with her cellphone! (NON-LAZY solution is easy: she NAILS him on camera.... then drops it and it breaks.) Sooo many EASY, obvious solutions to every dumb, LAZY plothole in this film. ARGH. EX: if YOU were her... would you CLAM UP so often (ala Batman v Superman)?? (JUST to keep the plot moving?) You'd have her SCREAMING to everyone and each time she looks crazier. INSTEAD, we get her not backing up her crazy statements. EX: the bottle. "He put his hand thru her window, smashing it, and so HOW DID THIS BOTTLE GET IN MY HOME???" LAZY. LAZY. LAZY. EX: the DUMBASS scene where the teen girl is NOT NEAR Moss and yet thinks Moss punched her?? DUMB DUMB DUMB and not plausible. (Just like most scenes. EX: if you saw the invisible man BEATING YOUR DAD TO DEATH in the hallway... would you just sit there and scream.... OR might you kick the invisible man off your dad???) As always, even a moron can solve these plotholes in SECONDS. EX: while her BACK is turned to Moss, THEN you have the invisible dude clock the girl, DUH. See? Impossibly bad filmmaking these days.

@Jay Jones Depends if the restaurant has cameras. A lot don't. And he could have just easily disabled it (he is, after all, invisible). No need to bog the movie down in exposition to explain away something that didn't need to be explained.

I love how this movie frames empty space as if it is a character. The cool thing is, there really might be someone there, but we can't see them. Probably my favorite thing from this movie.

I have to wonder if all the people saying this are doing it to try and appear smarter than people so they can point out that they can 'notice' the empty spaces, when in reality the movie deliberately uses wide angle shots when the Invisible Man is present, he is always there when the character says he is, and there is no fancy camera work going on when the camera is facing a character and then pans onto an empty piece of furniture. There is no 'gotcha', there is no 'looking for it', the movie is literally telling you

What was even more impressive is that towards the end we aren't just left with "he could be there" camera work, we do in fact see him a fair bit, so they've got the effects budget to make that work. His reveal as a real presence is perfectly timed with the characters suspicions of his presence.

The 2 "potholes" can be explained away. 1. The travelling question, there are 2 brothers who are stalking her, there are 3 suits. The older brother controls the younger and manipulated him too. 2. The restaurant scene, there are many eyewitness accounts that will say it was her. It happens so fast and he places the knife in her hand. Not to mention all the gaslighting and manipulation he has done to discredit her. If there was a security camera that caught it, how would that hold up in court? If no one thinks invisible tech is possible? The knife floats for a bit, but with no evidence to support her claim, there's too much stacked against her.

Also think of all the restaurants you’ve ever been to. Not many, if any camera most of the time AND they made sure the angle of the shot showed the knife SUPER close to her. Most security cameras it would appear as if she was holding it the whole time. Not a plot hole IMO.

Traveling question: I get what Chris is saying. I’m not sure everyone else is. Regardless of how many brothers and invisible suits there are, the invisible man would still have to physically drive a car to Adrian’s house.... So Chris is asking HOW could the UBER driver NOT see another car roll up the driveway?? Also...who’s taking care of that darn dog?? Is someone driving there to feed him everyday, despite the owner being “dead”?? Again, these aren’t huge deals. I still love the movie, but these are definitely inconsistencies.

The plotholes in this movie can be explained so easily. The first time I watched the movie I noticed the plotholes but was unbothered by them. The second time I watched the movie, I could explain the plotholes in the context of the movie and realised they were not really plotholes at all. 1) How did the invisible man get to the house? There are 2 brothers that are doing this. I'm sure when 1 of them is playing invisible, the other could be able to drive a vehicle. 2) The CCTV camera as the restaurant? For this you need to realise 3 things. Firstly, this guy is a genius. Secondly, he is invisible. Thirdly, he is mega rich. He murdered the sister in a crowded place so there were many, many witnesses that "saw" everything. If the girl kept insisting about the invisible man, the police might present the cctv footage in the court but it wouldn't hold up, if he didn't already have it erased by using either his money/influence or his suit. Remember, no one knows that there is a thing called invisibility suit. The court asks for hard evidence and if she said her "dead" boyfriend is the man in the suit then she would be send to a psychiatric ward indefinitely. If you take any plotholes in the context of the movie, they can be explained. The director doesn't have to point everything out manually, we as an audience also need to use our imagination and logic(in the context of the movie). The only thing I didn't like was the ending. It was kindof a predictable and meh ending. Overall I would give this movie 9/10. I only gave 9 because of the ending, everything else was phenomenal.

@Khai Are you genuinely asking or are you using that question as a joke to comment on the fact that the Dark Universe is so forgettable. Nonetheless, I’ll answer the question for you; The Dark Universe was meant to be a series of films focusing on a connected universe with all of Universal’s classic monsters, such as Dracula, Frankenstein’s monster, and in this case, the Invisible Man. The Mummy (2017) was meant to be the start of these series of films, but it also happened to be the end!

@@takoshihitsamaru4675 sometimes I can roll with it. There were just too many things to roll with in this one for me. What really bugged me was they explain a lot just fine with the...spoiler...but then sit there and say, "Oh that was just this time." When it could've been both the whole time and made way more sense. (Sorry for keeping it vague but hopefully you know what I mean.) But even then the movie really stopped making sense after that. And we never "see" (get to know) the villain at all. Meanwhile the original managed to explain all the logistics AND flesh out the title character in a mere 70-something min runtime. I don't know. I just feel like the bar is so low now.

Rockstar Phantom I think despite the name, Cecelia is meant to be the focus of the movie. The invisible man was done well, but he's really just the antagonist, not the star. I also saw a very interesting theory here that actually helps with some pf the plot holes. SPOILERS!! A person on here suggested that Adrian could be getting around by means of his brother. And if they really were working together the whole time, it could explain some other scenes too. We'd be led to believe there are 3 suits. So many scenes could infact be the both of them. Maybe Adrian kills, but his brother doesn't. Or the other way around. Why would the sister be straight up murdered, but tons of armed cops live, while others die violently.

You know what other movie gets dumbed down if you think it should spoonfed you with it's logic? Fight Club. And I'm not saying its on that level nor it didn't have many plotholes, but some of them clearly aren't as glaring as you're making it out to be. Its a horror movie, sometimes it works for it's atmosphere and the elements its conveying.

There is one thing that Chris Stuckmann didn't mention, but I feel the need to comment on. Most film movies with an invisible man are either comedies or have the guy as a hero. I think THAT is the reason why Stuckman doesn't think The Invisible Man belongs with the other monsters, not because it's sci-fi. (He DOES realize that not only is Frankenstein's monster a science-fiction character, but that book was one of if not THE first science fiction novel.) Two notable exceptions are the original "The Invisible Man" with Claude Rains, and the re-make in everything but name "Hollow Man" with Kevin Bacon. The first movie had Raines' character start out sympathetically, but then the invisibility serum drives him crazy. "The Hollow Man" suggests that MAYBE Kevin Bacon's Sebastian might have become either affected by the invisibility serum. or simply the psychological toll of being invisible all the time. (Although Sebastian is such an @$$hole when he's visible, it isn't that far of a stretch for him to become a villain.) This movie makes it explicitly clear that this is not about a man who becomes evil after he becomes invisible, but rather about an evil man who learns to become invisible. There are other horror movies that are a LITTLE more scary, and others where I am relieved to see the final monster killed off, but rarely have I ever personally disliked a villain in a movie the way I do this one.

DeLorean DMC Which worked in a sense because it would have you expecting something (like you do anyway in Horror/Thriller movies) and then defy that expectation. Like the way that the trailer had mostly subdued music, but the movie had 'hear it from fucking Mars' jumpscare musical shrieks.

It really is a good movie. Kind of slow at first but when the invisible man starts making him more known it picks up. Also the trailer kinds of misguide you to think they reveal too much but it really doesn’t. Definitely check it out and hope you have a good theater cause mine was gasping and saying wtf throughout the film.

This movie started great in first half, but i couldn't bear the dumb moments when she conveniently waits for the villain to make a move before she moves herself, or before she picks up a gun, shoots at him etc. Like that scene at the asylum she yells at the guard that he's behind him but doesnt pick up a gun until villain kills him, on the parking in the rain she doesnt move before he incapacitates another guard as well, it was so annoying to see her make a move only after movie needed the scene to be played out by the villain first. It's like she was playing a turn-based game.

Right?! SOMEONE would have had their phone out in that restaurant and seen what actually happened. Plus the whole question of transportation. And why is his dog still in a house by itself?!? These were the biggest plot holes I noticed.
@johnnycalvino7490
@johnnycalvino7490 4 жыл бұрын
@@lathanandrews417 It's very unlikely that anyone would have seen the moment from the time the knife suspended in mid air and Cecilia's sister's throat being slashed and to the knife being put in Cecelia's hand - firstly because it took place so quickly (a couple of seconds) and secondly, because no one is going to be paying much attention to what's going on at other tables. Its only when its apparent that her sister is dying that the other guests start screaming. Also, it's not uncommon for a house pet to he alone in a house a few days after some one has died. Obviously, they would be very hungry, but they'd still be alive.

The guy is obsessed with security cameras and optics and has an invisible suit, i think he'll probably could take care of a restaurant's security cameras fairly easily, the fact that it isn't showed on screen is probably to not ruin the unexpected scare, i actually thought that was brilliant, because it made Cecilia even more vulnerable, as in no place is safe with this guy

Upgrade was amazing, this looks like another great, and both on very small budgets, meaning he has to think and be creative rather than CGI everything at a cost. At this time, he is the only director I would like to helm Escape From New York.....but casting will make or break that film even if he helms it.

Yep, hard not to go "this is not entirely logical" sometimes. But then again lots of movies have these "this happens because the script says so" moments. But if it's an otherwise good movie and I'm entertained, I can live with that, maybe even swallow a few minor plot holes.

This is the closest approximation I’ve seen in a movie to what it’s like to be abused by a malignant narcissist. It made me realize how a lot of movies will use domestic violence as a go-to but this was a 2 hour deep dive into emotional and psychological abuse. I have almost never cried in a film - and I never thought that of all films I’d be choking up at the last shot of “The Invisible Man” - but here we are.
