The way you put together the videos and explain everything that you are doing is why I can watch everyone of them without skipping though. No one really just wants to see someone sitting in a machine not really talking. The narration is key.

Dang Mike. I could hear it in your voice when you were talking about your dad and it was enough to get me a little choked up. I guess that means I like you cause if not it wouldn't have bothered me like it did to hear it. Your story reminded me of something I saw as a kid back in the '70s. A tow truck operator was winching a vehicle out of a deep ravine and the cable snapped. Safety wasn't a big issue back in those days, and I won't get graphic about this. But if you've watched the end of BraveHeart that's what happened to the tow truck guy. Sucked to see that as a kid.

Mike sorry for your loss. Your parents are someone you'll never forget. I lost my dad 64 years ago by a freak accident cleaning a pistol. I was there and saw the whole thing. I never dwelled on it but I still remember little things about him. Good video. God Bless.

Mike,thanks for sharing about your dad. My dad was in a serious accident on a farm tractor when I was 9 years old. He walked away from it only because it threw him clear. The tractor was destroyed but he had it rebuilt and I now have it today some 70 years later. We transported Dad to his final resting place with the tractor in 1998. You made me think about how much different my life would have been if dad had lost his life in that accident. I also keep the farm mowed every year and enjoy doing it. I also remember that day every time I go by where the accident happened. I can still see the tractor flipping through the air in my mind. I'm so thankful I had him with me to teach me all of the things I enjoy today.

Maybe someday you can put together a video tribute to your father. It would be tough and an emotional rollercoaster to do, but it might also help with the healing. It's never easy to lose someone and we all have to cope & get closure in our own time and way.

It's tough when you lose anyone but when its your dad, its that rock that you took for granted as always being there that is gone. Kind of makes you feel a little more vulnerable to life. But, over time I realized that I am that same rock for my family and that gave me a kind of peace. Doesn't take away the pain of losing him but, it's pretty cool to realize that now you are that same rock for your family.

Your dad would be proud of you you can tell by your voice you loved him he did good you are a good father to your family!!

So sorry to hear about your Dad, Mike. It was shortly after you recorded this video that I accidentally discovered your channel and haven't missed hardly an episode since. For the first year or so, I was watching via my grandson's page and did not have the ability to comment. Six or seven months back we fixed that and set me up a page so I could Like - Subscribe - & Comment. When we got to meet in person this past September, when I came down to ride my horse out at the German Ridge Recreation area, it only cemented what I felt in my heart. So sorry for your loss Mike I really am. Machines can be dangerous and sometimes they can catch a person off guard. One almost claimed my life in 2004 and I live with the pain every day now. Accidents sadly happen all to often. Stay safe Mike as we all care about you. Your father raised a very awesome son, family.

Glad I watched this vid from 15 months ago. Thanks for sharing about the loss of your Dad. My Dad was around until my early 60s and passed in mid 2011. Still miss him. It was apparent that his loss still affects you.

Just had to watch this again, when you told the story about your dad it just floored me and I didn’t even remember what the rest of the video was about. Then sometime later in the episode where you named your project dump truck Lt. Dan, I was floored again I had commented that you should name it after your dad, low and behold Lt. Dan! As a father whose son named his son after me there’s nothing in the world I’ve ever been prouder of, I can reassure you your dad is very proud!

I lost my Dad in 20 years ago to cancer, I still and always will miss him, it's really tough sometimes to even think about loosing him but we had a lot of great times together and I always try to remember those. God bless you and your family.

I know how you feel losing your dad. I also lost my mom. I was sixteen then my dad passed she had a heart attack and I was twenty-six when my mom passed from a long hard battle with cancer. When you're ready we're all here to listen! It's an awful thing Losing a parent especially at a younger age. Mike, I know that your dad would be amazed by your family and what you are doing! My dad had a massive heart attack when I was 24, I was a first responder and I couldn't save him. I can tell you that it's far better that you weren't there. Here's a suggestion for you and your family to honor your dad, build a memorial park on the place where he and your mom were going to build their house with view points from both houses and another of the valley, and groom the area where the accident happened, not to erase it, but as a tribute to the man who shaped your identity. He would absolutely be proud of you right now. By the way, thanks for the ride on the mower head, it was definitely a great idea, even your son thought it was cool. Lol

Mikey... there are places we go that match up with places in our heart... good and bad places. My father had a terminal disease. My job had me traveling entirely too much. One weekend, in the spring, I drive up to see him. He met me in his driveway and was looking remarkably fit. As I got out of my pickup he said, let me show you something. We walked around to the back of his pickup and there was a little 8’ pontoon water scamp fishing boat in it. I was surprised. I knew there was no way he could get in and out of it by himself. And, I also knew I had to leave town in a few hours for a full week of travel... I listened to him talk about the great deal he got on it and how he had to get it licensed for all the fishing he wanted to do... all the time he’s talking, my mind is working to figure out how I can fit fishing with him into my schedule... then, he tells me that this will be his last summer and he hopes that we can go fishing at least one more time. It was right there in that driveway, looking at that boat that I decided it was time to make a change. I had passed up a dozen offers to go fishing with him over the past year. I wasn’t going to pass up another. I got on the plane that afternoon... pulled out my schedule and moved everything on it for the following week. When the plane landed, I called my boss and informed him of the changes and why I was making them. He told me that he would cover for me and if I decided that I could cut the trip short that he would be OK with that too. I worked three days and flew home. As soon as I landed I called my dad to tell him I was headed that way to go fishing. I could tell from his voice that he was weaker than just the weekend before... but, he was excited to go. So, I loaded up my gear the next morning and headed his way. When I got there, dad came out leaning heavily on his cane. He didn’t have the strength to gather his gear... but, he was convinced that the fish were biting. I got him into his pickup, loaded up his rod and tackle box and got in to drive. Once we were settled, I asked him where we were going to fish. He said that he hadn’t got the permits for the boat so we couldn’t take it on a public lake. However, there was this farmer he knew who had an irrigation lake that he had permission to fish. So, off we went. When we arrived I stopped by the farmhouse and introduced myself. The farmer asked how my dad was doing... when I told him, he said that he would help me get the boat out and my dad into the boat. Mike, the best conversation that I ever had with my dad was right there on that lake. I learned more about his life, his hopes and dreams and... just how much I loved that man... than at any other time in my life. It was also the last time he ever got to fish. Those two places... his driveway and that lake... are places I will remember forever...for both bad and happy reasons. I’ve only recently told my daughters this story... and wanted to let you know... there may be a time when it feels right to divulge your feelings or experience to others. Or, there may not be... either way, do only what your heart tells you to do.
