Winter time means maintenance time on my own stuff. I have my good old JD 755 tractor in the shop to check and set the valve lash. It was a little shaky during cold starts, so I inspected and tested the glow plugs as well. Enjoy!

I have a '97 John Deere 770 with just under a thousand hours on it. I learned to adjust valves on a Farmall M and Cub in the mid 1950s. But, just in case there was something different I searched and came up with your video. My 770 has three bolts holding the rocker cover down and nothing in the way over the top of the engine. Looks pretty straight forward. You told us stuff once, didn't repeat ad nauseam, had a decently short intro and covered the essentials. The extra on the blow plugs was appreciated. My engine is direct injection so I only use the glow plugs if the temperature is several degrees below freezing. It's the best starting Diesel I've ever owned (I've owned 13 including the 4 I have now). Thanks for the video. Well done.

I can’t believe how they didn’t bend that pipe better to clear the filter! I’d probably get myself in trouble taking out my bending tools, but that would drive me crazy. When will they make valve adjustment screws with Torx heads? Just saying. So was that rain on the roof in the last clip or did you have some noisy shop things in the dryer? 😉

Briggs uses torx. Most everything else uses slotted screws. Yep, that was rain on my tin roof shop at the end. It's gets loud sometimes...

Seems to me I’ve seen a lot of Yanmar 3 cylinders of that HP in sailboats around 25 to 35 feet or so.

A simple valve lash adjustment is a pretty standard job for either gas or diesel engines. I have a high efficiency gas house furnace to heat my shop, and a window mounted A/C unit for the hot summers. Thanks for watching!

Good day Random Yrs ago I went to garage sale & there was Yanmar plastic light sign & my son & friend threw a stone through it broke both side. Yrs ago yanmar was right up there with kubota. I think more yanmars motors are sold but not tractors. I thought # 1 cyl on tractors was at radiator? My bro. slip in fence yesterday after ice storm, do u know any web site for gmc truck parts Thanks for now.

Hey Don. Yanmar still makes engines for many tractors, and there are still Yanmar branded tractors. #1 on these engines is at the "back", where #3 is at the rad. No idea why they decided to go that way, it is what it is. Depending on what you need, rockauto.com is where I got LOTS of parts for my 1997 K1500, including body and trim parts.
