This was my own personal Redbull hardline track... The grey zone is that fine area between riding comfortably and throwing all sense of safety out the window. In this video I show you how I progress by riding within the grey zone and hope to encourage you to do the same while still being safe!

Just getting in to riding in PNW (BC) and its inspiring to see your progression and knowing when to hit a feature and walk away. Keep up the good work!

I empathize with this video so hard! Thanks for the constant reminder. I need to spend more time in the grey zone. I’ve been pretty plateaued the past couple years. Riding with friends definitely helps you feel more comfortable in the grey zone though!

I’m new to MTB so I feel like every trail is in the grey zone lol but either way, challenging yourself is so much more fun than just staying in the green

Great video Corbin! Really encapsulates the mtb experience . Love all the uncut attempts at features, breaks to gather yourself, and moments of dwindling stoke. You shred but provide realistic expectations of what its like to ride at a high level

I appreciate the words! Yeah this one was tough so I really wanted to show the humanity of sending it... it's not all easy success like some can make it seem haha

Thanks Corbin, great video. I rode RTL for the first time a couple of weeks a go and got hung up at the same exact place you did on the entrance. OTB for me. It was good to see your line and perseverance to clean it. We have two rules of riding similar to your “The most important trail of the day is the next one”…. 1. Ride your own ride (progress at your comfort level and don’t be concerned about keeping up, meet at the next intersection) 2. Live to ride another day ( self explanatory I think). And one more thing… Thanks for saying out loud on your videos what everyone is thinking in their head as they are riding.

Thanks man! Yeah RTL is pretty burly but was super satisfying to check everything off. Any injury from the OTB? I really like those two rules as well!

No injuries, thank goodness, that is a janky feature, and I have plenty of experience with OTBs…LOL. May hit up SBH tomorrow….

Appreciate the rawness of this video!! It is real and exactly what we all go through. Riding with pressure (internal or external) is not a formula for success. My mantra for myself and when riding with others is "do you" and "ride at your own speed". I am very competitive and always pushing myself.... the methodical approach to expanding your riding skills is the perfect balance to that competitiveness. I'm going to work at thoughtfully implementing this approach as I ride! We are right on the verge mountain biking season opening up.... time change on March 10th is giving us that stolen hour back!!!!

I love the "ride at your own speed" mentality! Yeah putting a lot of pressure on myself is not the best recipe for "fun". It is super fun to check things off (after the fact) and sometimes that pressure is needed... although riding in the comfort zone is how I'd like to spend most of the time. Having no sketchy moments during a ride is a peaceful experience lol

Awesome story. Also, the video shots of the rock garden from below looking up really capture the steepness. Looks way gnarlier. My progression always stems from what features I have hit in the past that are similar. If I can relate it to something else Ive done, then often the mental barrier is easier to break through. Or maybe the other feature is easier to practice so Ill work on it until i feel comfortable and then go hit the new one.

That rock garden is pretty burly, really tough to let it roll and still be in control. I really like that mindset of comparing new features to ones you've done in the past. Helps establish a solid baseline for confidence when looking at the next big thing

ahh complicated question... I do like the bike but I also think there are cheaper options out there that do similar things. The bike is really built for the park/freeride stuff. It's not my "ideal" do it all full suspension bike. I'm dreaming about a high pivot, mullet, 170/150 with a reach of 470 lol
