I worked with a woman who allowed her husband to SA her son. To this day she believes her son is to blame because he's gay and she finally divorced the husband when he cheated on her. She genuinely could not understand my disgust as she matter-of-factly described this to us on break.

If the defense against them is that the woman is lying about it, of course he will blame the woman... for lying. The defense is proposing reasons that discredit the woman's testimony. It's a trial. They are trying to figure out if the woman is lying or not, as it is possible that she is lying and isn't a victim at all. That's why it's a trial, of course the defense is going to try and discredit the woman. That's the whole point of a trial. Now she can start the healing prosses and that isn't an easy task either. It has been 35 years since I had to do this and I am still healing. In my opinion you can never fully heal from this type of trauma as a child. I have Social Anxiety that I hate and I have had it for a very long time and I don't like it. I am starting the healing prosses of that now. Life is to short to just let it pass you by. And Judge Simpson is an amazing judge. I use to live in Michigan but I am no longer that close to that state. My offender lives there and is now out of prison. I thought it was best not to be in the same state as him.

To attempt to dispel the alleged offenses; if they can't be dispelled then the guy loses the case, if they can be dispelled then he wins and is found not guilty. Testimony is not enough for any crime let alone serious ones like this. You can't just say someone did something and then lock them up for the rest of their life with no other form of evidence other than saying it. You ever heard of reasonable doubt? If you can just say someone did something and immediately win the whole case with no other evidence than that, then you have an unjust amount of power that bad women (yes, bad women exist, not all of them are angelic beings incapable of wrong; actually, as many bad women exist as bad men) will 100 percent exploit and take advantage of. That isn't acceptable.

This guy thinks he’s Jackie Childs (IYKYK) with how he testified all fast thinking that would work. The man on trial is a stain. I’m a paramedic, the first 7 years of my career I worked in a pediatric advanced life support ambulance and the things I’ve seen…. I’ve talked with kids that were abused… some of them trusted me. It doesn’t matter it took 4 years to speak up… she was a child and still working through things and was likely ashamed and scared. If convicted put him in general population. Anyone who claims that these victims do this for attention or anything...look at that courtroom. Listen to what she's describing to a room full of mostly strangers (and some of the non-strangers are not there for good reasons). The BRAVERY of this witness or any other witnesses in cases like this, should never be diminished. It is not impossible that someone could lie, but you BETTER have some GOOD evidence to support that because the most of the people that commit these kinds of crimes get away with it because most victims would not want to relive those events (and I don't hold it against anyone who cannot testify). It's about power and its about shame and a feeling of guilt on the victims part (made worse by an attorney that appears to validate that blame which should be a crime in itself). Good on Judge Simpson. He's a good man.

I was sa at the age of 5 twice by a family member who my parents were trying to help that was at least 19 years old and although my mother was there she was absent wasn’t really into the kid thing and my loving father is 64 375 pounds. I never told my parents until I turned 12 years old, and he was already living somewhere else. I never received justice. The reason that the family member was put out of our home was because my father and I walked in on him trying to essay my 14-year-old brother couldn’t tell for sure what was happening other than they were wrestling on the ground with the lights off and the family members genitals was exposed daddy told him he had to leave my response for never telling until I turned 12 because I was protecting my father. I know if I would’ve told my father the police would not have been able to get to the house fast enough and my father would have killed him and then I would be a child without a parent. Many reasons why a victim doesn’t come forward I’ve come to find out. He has at least three other family members that were minors and we spoke among ourselves, but he hasn’t been brought to justice. I’m sure he will reach his Karma sooner than later, shame on the defense attorney my heart goes out to the victim

I hate the defense attorney's used the " Your mom needed money from your abuser and you lived with them, so you being a 12 year old needed to lie to get money from your abuser" defense for this. He could have used any other means like " unable to understand the situation since you were a child", or "The child could have been in a state of mental durress and couldnt make proper sense of the divorce" he could have used any other non-combative defense strategy, but purposely used the most accusatory and blatantly inappropriate one possible alongside being very aggressive towards the victim and her lawyer. Fuck this was rough
@LogicalNiko
@LogicalNiko 2 ай бұрын
I understand that the defense attorney probably has no choice but to try the blame game as it sounds like his only path he had open. But to be honest saying a 11-12 year old is cognizant enough to know what to tell to a parent is absurd. It’s been clinically shown that even people in the 18-25 range struggle with fear from adult reprisals and social stigma. It’s not really until the 26-35 range that the human brain fully develops it understanding of a larger picture, duty to society, and self reflection.

It takes an astronomical amount of courage for her to be there and answering detailed questions about what happened to her. Lowering the volume of her voice, as well as for others, can be a sort of coping mechanism. Just like how some people curl up when afraid or sad. And the the mic doesn’t increase her volume. As mentioned, the mic is for recording her.

I love Judge Simpson. The only videos of his that I've watched in the past have only been traffic related squatters/evictions, child support, and/or domestic violence related. I have never seen a video this sad, and this is why women don't come forward because of that stupid defense attorney. I love Judge ❤ Simpson even more after this miscarriage of justice by the defense. Praying for the victim. 🙏🏽❤🙏🏽

I have to wonder why the prosecutor didn't object to the fact that the defense attorney continually lead the victim/witness the whole time that he was questioning her and why Judge Simpson allowed it with or without an objection the prosecution.

I understand advocating for a client. He was gleeful. And I lived in a house where sexual abuse happened and I never saw a thing. How dare he? At the very least, defense counsel should be barred from such an erroneous argument as that argument, especially with a minor. What an ill- informed jerk.

Judge Simpson is a compassionate man. This had to be so hard for this woman to tell this to a room full of strangers. I feel she was probably terrified to tell this as a child. Children tend to think they have done something wrong. And she didn’t want to hurt her mom. I say that from my own personal experience. 😢😢😢
