i avoided BTS and everything K-Pop for YEARS because the crazy armys scared me off (i know not all armys are crazy, thats why i specified the *crazy* ones) but then i heard The Feels by Twice on TikTok and i started listening to more of their songs, watching compilations of them on youtube, interviews, etc and i became a ONCE, now i’ve started listening to a little bit of Itzy and watching things with them in it and stuff and now i’ve kind of fallen into the K-Pop hole

Not going to lie, seeing the "garbage fanbase" that Emily never wanted to be associated with comment hurts. I've seen firsthand some extremes that some obsessive 'fans' go through and have heard my fair share of stories. It's really disappointing that some bad apples give the whole tree a bad reputation.

I avoided KPop for YEARS. I hated it, never watching a single thing. Until I stumbled across a video of Blackpink's Du DDu Du DDu, and wanted to learn the dance. I found out who the members were and started listening to them and watching their content, along with other groups like IVE (who had freshly debuted at the time), Itzy, and Gidle. Then during June, I found a girls generation music video, I got a boy. I watched it countless of times then listened to most of their discography (including most of their music videos, content, solos, etc.). Now I started listening to SNSD, SHINee, Big Bang, 2Ne1, Wonder Girls, BTS, and more!

I avoided the color pink and anything remotely “girly” because gamer misogyny plus gender dysphoria. Now I’m a fan of magical girl anime and I’m one of those people who buys every Star Guardian skin in League of Legends. I’m also a lesbian, so I’ve gone from avoiding girly things to pursuing girls. Truly the pipeline.

I got into BTS in 2019. I had purposely ignored them, their fanbase and the kpop genre in general due to the toxic fans and weird fanfics I'd come across. My older sister came into our room one day in april to show me their Boy With Luv performance at the BBMAs, saying that I had to see it. I have since fallen into the kpop black hole and have enjoyed it immensely! I'm glad I had their music to get me through 2019, which had been a really rough year for me and my family, and I can't wait to see what they do with their music next!

Eragon. The book was really popular when I was in 5th grade, and I refused to read it simply because it was popular. I watched this video for the first time like two years ago when I first discovered your channel and I had no idea what kpop even was. In October of 2021 Netflix recommended me Blackpink's documentary and I ended up watching it like five times and becoming a fan. Fast forward to last month, I watched the Dynamite MV and fell for BTS real fast (I also had the same experience with Blood, Sweat and Tears lol). The fun fact is my ex did actually got me to try to listen to BTS once and I did watch the music video but… looks like I’m immune, and I guess I can thank Linkin Park, Skillet and Slipknot for the most part (also, the kind of guy actually needs to know the lyrics to really vibe with the music so not understanding Korean kinda helped. And for context, I’m Brazilian and wanting to vibe more with music was one of the main reasons I went to learn english on my own). But I guess the fanbase thing is really a problem of many kinds, and it seems that I am about to almost experience the same thing again since I just watched the Breaking Bad show. This was very similar to the way I first got into kpop. I heard Twice's Likey on a League stream one day and the song stayed in my head but there wasn't much more to it. It stayed like that until I watched the mv and got sucked in for the reasons you mentioned about how the mvs are made to be eye catchy and visually appealing. I then started getting into more groups (mostly mainstream ones) and even got into some tv shows due to idol groups appearing. Then about a year and a half later the "dreamy picture" that I had in my head started to shatter as I started finding out about what happened backstage and how the industry works. It started with allegations of vote manipulation in reality shows, then stuff about some kpop idols going to jail, until I got to know the part about the idols' contracts and how their daily life actually went on and all the boundaries that were imposed on them. Since then I became part of the 3rd group you mentioned, the "indiferent but questions how the industry works and treats the idols" group

Well, I always thought anime was not that good of a film form, but my absolute favourite film since I first saw it last September is an anime. Probably because the characters have relatively natural voices and it's not _overly_ pink. It's visually appealing and the voices aren't overly high, but the biggest reason I like it is because the music is great. The anime I talk about is Mamoru Hosoda's _Belle_ from 2021.

I know this was from 4years ago but its still cute, Already out of the hole (I grew up and slowly didn't feel like KPOP was my thing anymore) and I did try going back but the groups I once enjoyed were no longer the same. I'm a 2016-2019 BTS army and had loved a few gen 4 boy groups like TXT, ATEEZ and Oneus but yeah I changed, everyone changed, it's life. There are always gonna be things that you can't re-love.

A huge example of something I was deterred from but ended up living was Genshin Impact. I originally resented it because my brother used it to make fun of my favorite game at the time, The Legend Of Zelda : Breath Of The Wild. I avoided it for like a year and majorly regret it because now have so many people to simp for and I find everything really enjoyable, and the worst part was that I had to miss out on the bartender event because of how behind I was with the game, but I’m glad I finally tried it out and got to enjoy the world I’ve explored so far!

Honestly, I don't have a situation where I avoided this or that fandom. For some reason, I was never biased towards this or that fandom, if I was not familiar. About BTS. At the moment, I have been an ARMY for 4 years and I am happy about it. I started listening to them in 2018. Before that, I hadn’t heard about them at all, but since I was part of the anime fandom, sometimes I came across anime edits with BTS songs (I didn’t know that then). My friend was an ARMY and she probably helped me in my first baby ARMY steps (she was still cool at drawing members. Plus she didn’t put pressure on me and waited for me to ask her something about this or that information about BTS. Plus she joked that I wish I hadn't climbed into this hole called k-pop. Naturally, it didn't help me.) It all started in 2018 when I came across the clip Blood, Sweat & Tears. And I understand you because I really liked the clip. And then it went off and on and I became an ARMY. I heard and saw examples of toxic fans, but my environment was fun and cool. So I don't regret anything. By the way, my bias is Namjoon and Hoseok!

For me it was anime I don’t really know why I didn’t like it but now I love it and it inspired me to learn how to draw (I’m still bad though) and animators like you and Jaiden Animations inspired me to learn how to animate (when I finish learning how to draw) so thank you for this inspiration 😊

I can relate in a sense but it’s with the band Rush. I used to hate Rush back in middle school and high school, only knew of them because Tom Sawyer was in the first Rockband game. Towards the end of college, i started listening to Tom Sawyer more often and now more recently I’ve fallen down that hole (which was spurred by the passing of the band’s drummer Neil Peart at the end of 2019/start of 2020. Now I just bought the 40th anniversary edition of Moving Pictures on vinyl.
