My ma worked in a hospital in Dublin Ireland when this happened. Hers was effected. She worked in the trauma centre and her hospital specialized in that or something. She basically said if people are horribly Injured or like medivaced from somewhere they go to her hospital as they have the facilities to provide the best care for tragic shit. She told me I remember that her and a bunch of her staff stayed there for unbelievably long shifts, way out of the norm for this. They basically called an "all hands on deck" situation because they had very little equipment working to perform the very specialized care they provided. I remember that was the second time she ever came home crying from work. That first day it happened. She's a tough women and doesn't crack like ever. But this situation really made things difficult in a already very difficult job. Crazy how far and wide this was able to effect systems.

Idk if your gonna cover it in a different episode or if it wasn’t significant to mention but I am pretty sure that there was an attempted DDoS attack on that domain to reinitiate wannacry. But nevertheless, Markus Huchins stopped that attack from happening and eventually got arrested for some other attack he did in his past. However, this is a great video and I actually didn’t know there were other but less successful variants to wannacry.
@Hunter-sk3bo

Yup! They did attempt to DDoS it so the malware would think it’s offline or nonexistent again! Spot on.

@mr.atomictitan9938
@mr.atomictitan9938 Жыл бұрын
@@joshuakuehn yeah Markus was arrested at Las Vegas because the FBI found out the creater of a malware that spread before wannacry. I think it was the Kronos virus (not the ransomware that attacked paychecks) but I don’t have much information about this malware and how it was created. There is a video, however, of wannacry and Markus on the channel DisruptTV. This video talks about why he got arrested and how he got off almost Scott free, but there is a side story that you should skip which has nothing to do with the wannacry video.

This came to my mind too in the ep57 (about MS08-067), how scary many people just don't update their systems regularly. Some of these ppl are actually proud that they're still using Win7 or XP online(!). I guess the next "vulerware-boom" will be when MS ends the Win10 support, especially because of the newer hardware requirement for Win11.

Corrections, to rent a server you can pay with crypto, and also get a domain with crypto. So you won't leave traces. No email, no IP will traced to you. But the servers are extremely expensive.
@RiversJ
@RiversJ Жыл бұрын
That will cover you from superficial intelligence, not from main state Intel or specialized law enforcement. But then considering what kind of evils are also done with crypto as the currency it's perhaps an appropriate balance between anonymity but not imperviousness ie the evil folks can still be caught out.

Hiding behind crypto payments is a thing of the past. Wallet owners and transactions are easily (relatively) traced via blockchain analyzers nowadays. The only "real" way to get away with anything is to live in country that doesn't recognize what you're doing as a crime (locally) and that doesn't extradite to the country you're committing the crime in.
@DamjanDimitrioski
@DamjanDimitrioski Жыл бұрын
@@jjann54321 ok, so I tell a friend living in Bangladesh to create an anonymous account, then print the authentication data in a encrypted language. Then to take a flight to another country, second friend to pick the paper on a random designated place which both parties know (from 10 years ago). Then the I go to a mutual country and meet another hidden spot where the second friend left the printed data. Now I take a picture of the image and go home. To access the servers I connect through a series of LiFi's to exit my country, then another LiFi network to access some cafe in a foreign country. There I remotely login to the server and set it up. Lets imagine someone is powerful enough to setup cross country LiFi network. Can they still trace me? Knowing that I will change clothes and my face will be changing using some masking techniques (nose shape, mouth size - color, etc), this goes for the other parties as well.

If at all possible do an episode/podcast about Dark_Alex he did so much for the PSP hacking scene from being the first to make a custom firmware to helping develop down graders and helping to develop the "Pandora's battery" which essentially was a homebrew version of what Sony used to unbrick PSP that were flashed improperly. He did all these things when he was still a teenager! Back in the day he was like a god to everyone who followed the PSP hackijg scene" Sadly there's no videos or documentaries about him. After hearing your Xbox hacking video I figured you could do the same Justice for Dark_Alex.
