Lyrics:
A dustland fairytale beginning
Or just another white trash
County kiss
In Sixty-one
Long brown hair and foolish eyes
He looked just like you’d want him to
Some kind of slick chrome American prince
A blue jean serenade
Moon River what'd you do to me
But I don't believe you
Saw Cinderella in a party dress but
She was looking for a night gown
Saw the devil wrapping up his hands
He's getting ready for the show down
Saw the minute that I turned away
I got my money on a pawn tonight
A change came in disguise of revelation
Set his soul on fire
She said she always knew he'd come around
And the decades disappear like sinking ships
But we persevere God gives us hope
But we still fear
What we don't know
The mind is poison
Castles in the sky
Sit stranded vandalized
The drawbridge is closing
Saw Cinderella in a party dress but
She was looking for a night gown
I saw the devil wrapping up his hands
He's getting ready for the show down
I saw the ending when they turned the page
I took my money and I ran away
Straight to the Valley of the Great Divide
Out where the dreams all hide
Out where the wind don't blow
Out here the good girls die
And the sky don't snow
Out here the bird don't sing
Out here the field don't grow
Out here the bell don't ring
Out here the bell don't ring
Out here the good girls die
Now Cinderella don't you go to sleep
It's such a bitter form of refuge
Ah don't you know the kingdom’s under siege
And everybody needs you
Is there still magic in that midnight sun
Or did you leave it back in sixty-one
In the cadence of a young man's eyes
Out where the dreams all hide

Man, before Pressure Machine those few songs stood out just a bit. But now they’re a show of how mature the Killers are and always have been. That’s exactly why I really like Pressure Machine. It’s got the depth of Sam’s Town and Day and Age combined with the sound of Battleborn, and the voice of Hot Fuss. Just an amazing culmination of what the Killers have made.

This is one of my all time favorite Killer's song and Springsteen is my all time favorite artist. Growing up with Springsteen's musical magic coloured my world and shaped my hopes and dreams like the characters in his songs. I remember listening to the record "Live 1975-85" over and over with my headphones on, eyes closed, and dreamed to one day to see Springsteen live and sing along to every word he sang. The dream came true and the energy and magic of every Springsteen live show is like some spiritual experience. So all these years passed to see this collaboration, the energy, the soul, the passion in Dustland captured so majestically, keeps me dreaming and keeps my soul alive...thanks for the music, the art and magic...

3:12 "Don't you know the kingdom's under siege and everybody needs you." Brandon's voice cracks just a bit, it makes me cry. I lost my dad at 24; we always thought my ma was the one that held us together but it wasn't - it was my dad. We were the type of family that just liked hanging out at the house, even as teens and in our 20's. I have two brothers; one is nine years old, the other is three years older and my sister is seven years older. Our friends would come over too. On top of that, my dad INSISTED on inviting our extended family over for holidays and just to check-in - usually 30-40 relatives. None of that has happened since his funeral - almost 13yrs ago.

@@iab8066 The Killers don't really get talked about a lot because rock isn't as prevalent in pop culture as it used to be. If you grew up when rock music was massive and rock stars were always in the news and being talked about it can feel like The Killers are massively underrated.

This song always make me emotional. If you know the meaning of this song youll heart will be broken again and again everytime you listen to it. And how Brandon painfully sings “Oh Cinderella dont you go to sleep, it’s such a bitter form of refuge. Dont you know the kingdom’s under siege, everybody needs you..” 😢😢😢😢

As tragically sad a song as this is for Brandon you can see the emotion in Bruce's face as well; this also touched him in some profound way, much like Johnny Cash with his rendition of "Hurt". Bruce is truly singing from the depth of his heart. Greatness recognizes greatness, and when they combine, it's something special and, in this case, devastatingly beautiful... This is one for the ages...
@roblindsay3422

I think a lot of that comes from the difference in perspective that comes with age, its one thing to write a song about something, it's another thing to live it. Just as 'Hurt' meant something completely different to Johnny Cash than it did to Trent Reznor

The Killers are the only current band that is underrated, it should even outperform many current bands that went generic like Coldplay. The Killers is a relic in modern times, unfortunately they make music for the love of art, it is not seen that they do it for money, beyond obvious earnings, for me one of the best bands today.

Imploding the mirage was such a beautiful album, an epic. This is the natural progression stemming all the way back from When You Were Young. I am in tears listening to this again and again. Springsteen’s voice and music has always been uniquely American and powerful. Y’all can’t tell me y’all wouldn’t love to hear Flowers sing Born in the USA or Dancing in the Dark, or listen to Springsteen in his prime sing When you were young. This was always meant to be and I am here for it.

I can't come up with the words to describe how this song makes me feel.. but,it's in Brandon and Bruce's eyes .. first Bruce is hands down my favorite artist of all time .. and since Sam's Town I've thought The Killers may be one of the last threads in the Jacket of Rock and Roll.. I'm 51 and I'll never forget how the summer of 84 felt.. what a magical time . .. 'Dancing In The Dark ' hit me like a bolt of lightning !.. who was this guy ?.. Bruce is the last man standing from that wonderful summer .. I don't think I'll ever get over the death of Prince and of course Bruce being the humble person he is gave not the greatest version of' Purple Rain' but,the most heart felt by miles.. to a man he knew was probably the Greatest musical Artist of all time ( yes, Bruce is mine but, I know Prince was unmatched as far as musical talent goes ).. I wish they could have done something together.. I think it would have made me feel the way this song does.. The Killers and Bruce love what they do, they appreciate that they are lucky enough to make a living ( a very good one !) performing and it shows .. it's in Brandon's eye's and that smile that he can't keep contained and well, Bruce is far from done .. these past few years has stolen his "medicine " and I can not wait till he hits the first few chords of ' Ramrod ' !.. I've got a good feeling this isn't a one time collaboration.. Bruce may be finally ready to ease up and do a 2 hour show and if that is the case.. who better to take on a little of the weight than The Killers !!!
