In this video, we're taking a look at the Intel i7-4790K CPU. This CPU is known as the King of Gaming back in 2014. This CPU was revolutionary in its record-breaking 4.0 GHz Base Clock which was significantly faster than Intel's lineup at the time. We hope you enjoyed this brief history lesson on this gaming beast, let us know, do you think that you could still game on this CPU.

Okay cool, I still have a number of customer running these processors without too many issues, however they generally have to be at 1080p for the game to run is that the same with you or are you able to run at higher resolutions with this platform? Anyways thank you so much for watching!

This Processor Is Such A Processor To Me That It Still Works. On The Games Side It Is Not So Fast On The Rendering Side Yes, But If We Think It Was Released In 2014, it is a processor that we can still handle our work in 2023

It defenetly holds up ! pair it with something like an RTX 2070 and you have yourself a beast for gaming ! With only a 3.6% bottleneck its very impressive for a almost 9 years old cpu.

This CPU is still GOAT. Obviously you wouldn't buy it when making a new budget build - newer options are better - but if you're still holding on it or somehow get handed down it or whatever, it's still VERY respectable. I use it - have recently bought a new AIO cooler and overclocked it to 4.6ghz core, 4.4ghz uncore, as well as overclocked my ram to 2200 mhz from 1866 (won't go any higher, also manually set ALL the timings to perfection), and a undervolt/overclock on my gpu (2070super). It is however, NOT DELIDDED. So I have more room (probably a 20c drop when delidded, 20-30c), but the AIO replacing my old Air cooler dropped by 20-25c alone itself. I can play Apex, Fortnite, and any of those kinds of titles @ 1440P above 120 fps vast majority of the time. CPU bottleneck situations like FN's "Mega-City" hover around 95-120 (capped) post-overclocking, whereas before it'd be 60-100 (cache & ram helped a lot with low %fps). I play Cyberpunk at 1440p with DLSS Balanced and High/Med combo settings at around 60-75 fps walking through streets and stuff. Warzone IIRC - before any kind of overclocking - was 100+ 1440p at DLSS Performance AFAIK. The main thing with this CPU and old CPU's is that it has big frametime/cpu usage spikes in modern games that leads to stuttering and hitching. I alleviated almost all of this, however, by manually overclocking the ram, the core/cache overclock, and then got an extra boost from the gpu overclock now that the CPU could utilize it a bit more. It also TANKS performance when trying to stream with it, but that's expected... For reference when playing CP2077, my gpu usage is like 65-72%.

Lightning took out my overclocked 4770k I could overclock it to 4790k speeds using a corsair liquid cooler. But lightning took out my MOBO and CPU. So I got a 4790k that I still use and have never overclocked. I'm using a GTX 1060 6GB but have an RX 7900 XTX HellHound delivered on Sunday to hook up too it. I'm gaming at 2k 144hz and this is what I like.
