Synopsis: Gongsun Li, a beautiful commoner, has been studying Kung Fu from her grandfather alongside two senior apprentices ever since she was a little girl. During her youth, she saves a boy named Ying Zheng, who later becomes the King of Qin. Her world is turned upside down when war breaks out amongst the warring states and her grandfather is killed by the Qin army. As a result, Gongsun Li is forced to flee her hometown. Her longtime senior, Jing Kie, is then poisoned for attempting to protect her. In order to obtain the cure for Jing Ke, Gongsun Li chooses to marry the king, Ying Zheng, who is responsible for invading her nation and murdering her grandfather. Soon after, Gongsun Li discovers that she is pregnant with Jing Kie’s child. When Ying Zheng’s discovers Gongsun Li’s pregnancy, he comes to her aid by claiming that he is the father of the child, which deeply moves Gongsun Li. In order to ensure the safety of Gongsun Li and her child, Han Shen, Gongsun Li’s other senior, chooses to become an imperial bodyguard in the palace. Faced with the dangers and perils of life in the palace, Gongsun Li develops into a strong woman and eventually earns people’s respect through her wisdom and kindness.

I loved Jing & Li's love. It is so innocent. They have so much to say to each other. There is so much chivalry in Jing at the same time he wants to outpour his love. King has betrayed these two people by separating them who actually saved him when he was young.

Why are ppl mad at Jingke for sleeping with her? It's her choice, she chose to give herself to him because she knew she wouldn't be with him again and she hated the King for not only forcing her to be his concubine but also the person who was responsible for her grandfather's death. She only promised the King to be his concubine, she didn't promise to save herself for the King.

Agree! I thought she was actually planning to commit suicide after she enter to the palace. Since her main purpose was achieve (to get the antidote, and safe JK life). But it turn out that she was pregnant and wasn't able to do it.

Without the King’s interference, Jing Ke and Li’er would have been a couple and they could live in the woods, happy and free, far-away from the warring states in the cities.They would have some skirmishes with the brotherhood of martial arts or with the soldiers of Qin once in awhile, but their life would have been a happy one, simple and carefree.

Wow the sword dancing Jing Ke and LiEr is beautiful! And the love scenes so sweet! Jing Ke and Li Er chemistry is so good, so pure and beautiful with perfect back ground music. That scene made me in tears. Pity they separated and they will never have that love scenes anymore. So heart breaking, I want more love scenes of Jing Ke and Li er.

I'm happy for Li Ji, that she was able to dedicating her first time as a woman with Jing Ke!!! She did it for herself, nobody else... I really love Li & Jing Ke's love. So pure & innocent, yet so passionate. The true love which is sincerely coming from the bottom of the heart. Separating these two beautiful lover is too cruel, truly break my heart so much!!! 💔😭 This two will fall into deep Depression coz of the separation. JK will have a heavy MENTAL BREAKDOWN, caused him to become an alcoholic & lost his motivation to continue living. And Li'er will get "THOUGHT DISORDER" or "SCHIZOPHRENIA" coz of misses JK so much!!! This is not the case where she's gonna have a stockholm syndrome and falling in love with her captors or abusers, but instead, she becomes DELUSIONAL cause by THOUGHT DISORDER and subconsciously transferring/channeling/Replacing her love or loneliness from Jing Ke to the King. OMG!! Such a pitiful soul 😭😭😭 The King is also pitiful coz of his traumatic childhood, and having PTSD. But my heart goes to JK & Li'er. They only have each other!! 😭😭😭 I thought she was actually planning to commit suicide after she enter to the palace. Since her main purpose was achieve (to get the antidote, and safe JK life). Only for this one, my Alliance will always goes to JK & Li'er. Not Because of this drama is based on Qin Shimingyue, but coz I clearly understood that these two definitely a "Married Couple" who is so much deeply in love with each other!! 💜 Jing Ke is actually already Li'er "Husband". The 3rd wheel is actually the King!! I feel Li'er is pitiful. Such a regret. I feel that This Drama kinda "Disrespecting" her as a "Woman" and damaging her image into that kind of unfaithful, fickle, an easy & cheap woman. She is NOT!!! I wish, They are Not intentionally "Overshadowed" her relationship with Jing Ke in order to make her relationship with the King more standout. Her heart ❤ might be fickle toward the King, but will always DEVOTED to Jing Ke. That's because, if anyone pay attention into detail carefully with the Chinese language & culture, It was actually already mention since Ep.4 They already decided to devoting themselves as a married couple since ep.4 with Li'er as the one who proposed first. He accept it and Afterwards Jing Ke called himself "Fufu" (Meaning: husband). And in this Ep.7, after they finally consummating their love, he called her "Qīzi" (Means: Wife). Anyway, her grandfather was entrusted her and Gongsun family Swordmanship "Only" to Jing Ke before he died, as a symbol that he already give them his blessing. Normally in this kind of Asian culture, such as Chinese culture, the family swordmanship will not be given to outsider. Jing Ke receiving the Gongsun sword book instead of Han Shen, because he is the man that is selected by Gongsun Li herself to become her husband. That's why her grandpa entrusted her & family swordmanship only to Jing Ke. He is an "INSIDER" who got accepted to become family by marriage. We didn't see any official marriage ceremony because the both of them is an "Orphan". They only have each other. Although it was only got acknowledge by the both of them, her marriage with JK is actually more "Sacred" compared to the King. Because they already got the "Blessing" from her grandfather.

The story is annoying. Even after the king let her go, he plays the poor me card. That was a reason she was afraid to get in touch with Jing ke, poor guy would only be killed anyway. He did not love Lan er. waste of training later. Lin er got really pissed at the king at the end when she found out what a fricken liar 🤥 he was all along. Can't hope to change your strong willed man, ladies.😪😢😥

If you watch Unly woman Lizhuen..of I forgot the title... This series will be great... Because dilraba that girl and the boy/the king in the other series (ugly woman) did not end well but they got the chemistry. The King was just a 2nd male lead there..but he is the cutest in that drama ...unfortunately did not end well with the woman (dilraba) ...but I'm really happyfor this series that the two got to be paired .. Owwwwww mygad!

Well, this plot is good unlike other dramas where king only has 1 wife through his life and make him queen despite of her eligibility just because he loves her. Here its totally different. He is already married but loves only her and thinks she is suitable to be queen because she has that skills and this is actually a fact, kings in history mostly are like this and they showed it

This is my first time watching this series. I don't understand why everyone is so in love with the king. I watched a document based on the first emperor of china and he became a complete lunatic right at the end of his reign. Going back to the drama, he is messed up. Everyone saying "she shouldn't have hadn't intercourse with her senior." From what I have seen so far, her senior had love for her while the king is showing obsession. Betrayal after betrayal he looks comforts to which he goes back to the flashback of when she saved him from their childhood. Pure. Honestly, good on her for losing her v-card to her senior. I honestly wouldn't care if the king killed me because at least I would have known what love rather than be a prisoner to him. Also, it's disgusting how he was ready to defile her thinking he was going to be her first.

Well, in this drama, he's way more appealing than the other dude, the king has aura that's what people loved about him in this drama. It's probably because Vin Zhang played the role of the king, he's such an amazing actor that it's hard not to love him. As for her senior, dude is painfully boring, I watched Novoland: castle in the sky before The King's woman and I shipped both the Mls in both dramas, both men are appealing, their acting skill outstanding. Maybe it's that Jing Ke dude but there's nothing sweet or interesting about him, he's just annoying and bland, IMO.

I reckon the King is the most important part in this drama, Zhang is brilliant actor, he's perfect for this role. I don't know why the sword guy wants to learn all those moves, but he died in end, funny he went there to kill the king, but ended up dead.

But the chemistry between her and her senior are just so bland. I feel like they’re trying too hard to force a relationship with each other unlike her and the king. Even though they fought, argued and to the point where she couldn’t even stand him and just wanted to kill him but also because of that particular side of her he found her so alluring, just made their chemistry a whole lot better.

Their chemistry is perfect! Jing Ke and Li Er moved from being brother sister to lovers. But Li Er at that time knew she had to leave him other wise both of them will be hunt by the crazy king if she does not submit to the king. Their love scene and the sword dancing scene are some of the best scenes in this drama.

In all Chinese dramas I've watched, the emperor is afraid of its constituent or being led by a greedy constituent, but this one, I like because the emperor has the one with control. Just like how I see an emperor should be. Exciting how the love story will unfold or if there's a love story to unfold between him and the lead female...hahaha
