Yeah it's a fitting start to the final saga and especially a fitting start to the events of the egghead incident in the manga it goes to show that death is starting to become a common thing. Spoilers for the manga up until chapter 1109 People who are mostlikely dead Shaka got head shoted Pythagoras got incinerated Vegapunk got double donated by Saturn and kizaru Sentomaru idk I heard he died but forgot if he did it's been a while since It happened Kuma idk what's happening with him if it's just him having a final outburst of his will to protect his daughter from harm. Besides the deaths just the overall vibe of some of the characters like kizaru and Saturn Kizaru just having that vibe of despair anguish sorrow from needing to kill his friends and after successfully killing vegapunk just that no will to live anymore. And Saturn looking menacing feeling like it's not looking at the characters but at viewers.

Unfortunately (I think) this goes unnoticed by many One Piece watchers/readers, because I rarely see people talk about it. Oda definitely knows what's up, when I saw the celestial dragons in the Sabaody Archipelago Arc, I knew exactly what Oda was hinting at. And seeing Luffy punch one of those disgusting pieces of shit right in the face was truly one of the most peak One Piece moments to this day. It perfectly shows Oda's position in all of this. A beautiful writer with a beautiful soul.

This is actually more terrifying than it was in the manga. Bc when Lulusia was wiped out in the manga it was a single beam of light and then it was gone. This is much more terrifying. The manga makes it look like the people died without even knowing what happened. It was essentially a painless death where the last thing they saw was a bright light and then POOF gone. This is much more terrifying. Those people died in terror, agony, panic, despair.

Fr one piece has always been like this, dark stuff with a lot of sugarcoating Racism was the core part of the fishman island arc and now as the story approaches the climax the racism factor is becoming more and more intense, if you have read the recent chapter them think about this... Only fishmen island can save the world of humans from what vegapunk said would happen as they are the ones who have the Noah and remember all the oppression that the humans have showed throughout the series to the fishmen? I can clearly see a point where the human world is in *INSERT WHAT VEGAPUNK TOLD WILL HAPPEN* and the fishmen being reluctant to help the world but then they'll be motivated by otohime and fisher tigers ideals and agree to help I'm quite certain this will happen because These were literally otohime's worlds that *"US FISHMEN SHOULD HAVE A BIG HEART AND FORGIVE THE HUMANS FOR WHATEVER THEY DID AND LIVE TOGETHER UNDER THE SAME SUN"* Sugar in dressrosa too, heck odas a genius to pair things like toys and slavery together, completely negating any censorship and still making it sound like "playing with people like toys" And Big mom's backstory still gives me chill to this day tbh Smiles and starvation in wano are also on the table.

One Piece is a post apocalypse where the bad guys won, genocided the good guys, used their descendants as slaves and made it so that even talking about them results in entire countries getting killed. That level of systemic violence that reflects real world events is much darker than Slashy McStabface doing a big kill while licking his sword.
