I find it so infuriating that the eldest daughter takes on a maternity role as soon as their mother decides to have more children. As an eldest daughter myself, I was doing things that I shouldn't have been doing as a child such as taking care of and attending to the needs of my youngest brother. In the most extreme cases, some of these girls have their childhood stripped away from them and resent their siblings for that same reason. I’m sorry you experienced that. You didn’t deserve it. No child old should have to help raise other babies/toddlers/kids. These parents chose to have 3, soon 4 kids, it’s their responsibility. Finding a good school for your kids is a part of that. The school system, while flawed, was designed around providing childhood development, socialization & education. While there are benefits to homeschooling, it’s about what is in the best interest of each child. Some kids struggle with public school because of bullying, speed of curriculum, class sizes, not getting one-on-one w teacher, etc. But it isn’t to allow child labor. Sadly, I think the ‘Christian right’s idea of never using contraception means they have huge families & use their older children to raise the younger. It’s repulsive to use religion to contribute to hurting to a child’s development & childhood freedoms.

I have two younger brothers, and while I had to look out for them after school, my family never denied or compromise my education for the sake of me being a nanny to them. That’s not fair to the eldest child, they are the parents they are responsible for watching over their children, not the older sister

Savannah won’t get a nanny because shes selfish! She doesn’t want her kids to see another woman as motherly! I can tell. That’s why she wants her 9 year old to help and that’s just stupid! Don’t take that girl out of school for that! She had no say on them being born So she should not have to sacrifice anything.

when savannah was talking about homeschooling everleigh and there’s an option where she’s at school 2 days a wk and home 3 days a wk, notice how she says “that’s perfect for me” and doesn’t even acknowledge how everleigh feels about it. even though she said that they’ll be able to see her more and spend more time with her, we all know it’s primarily to help with the other siblings. it’s infuriating seeing a mother who is taking her oldest child’s education & social life away just because she cant be a proper mother and take care of the 2 (soon to be 3) other kids she has. i never liked this family and this situation proves my point even more

don't like how easy it is to homeschool your kids in the states, a parent never replaces a teacher. Not even if they have the knowledge. And also I HATE how they only want to pull her out of school to help with the kids Savannah keeps popping out. Like seriously-they have more than enough money for a nanny. No need to strip your child of their childhood

I’ve heard so many stories of a busive parents pulling their kids out of school when teachers notice too, there needs to be a better system in place and the kids need to be checked on. (Not saying they are, just that it’s another issue with homeschooling here)

Why cant a parent replace teachers? Parents dont need to be experts to be able to effectively teach and raise their kids to be intelligent, inquisitive and all things a school teacher could do. Not saying it's for everyone but I dont agree that parents cant replace the teacher bc they can in a literal sense and in a sense of effectively teaching and leading their kids. Homeschool can be powerful if done in a conducive manner

@@dahliacook3983 for sure. As I said, it's not for everyone. Not everyone is ready, capable, equipped or willing to homeschool. But that doesnt mean parents cant be teachers. When are parents going to learn that it is NOT their eldest child’s responsibility to care for their youngest siblings. Not saying they shouldn’t help once in awhile with chores, but raising children? They’re so young themselves. I grew up taking care of my siblings at a very young age and felt as if I didn’t get to enjoy my childhood to the fullest due to the huge responsibility left on me. So sad they would even consider this. Each to their own I guess.
