I will never trust someone again after they lie to me

As a man in his fifties I've learned to trust no one... Just me and my dog now. 🇬🇧

I trusted my husband but he'd always accuse me of cheating if I took too long shopping or when he worked the night-shift. He wouldn't talk to me for days at a time, I don't know why, and he hardly ever wanted to be with me after the first couple of years. I was so angry at him for being cold that I couldn't sleep next to him, so I'd usually sleep on the couch. I didn't have money to leave so I told him to leave but he said he would never leave. One day my daughter (from my first marriage) said, "Mom he's got an e-harmony account." I just said, "Shh, maybe he'll find someone and leave." She liked that idea too even though she was his favourite person in the house, she didn't like how he was cruel with her brother and me. He ended up leaving 10 years in. Oh happy day. Through the grapevine I learned he remarried. It was the mother of a friend he would spend time with on the weekends. I hope he's more loving to her, for her sake. Not sure I'll ever find someone to share my old age with but I'm alright alone. Having no one to constantly give me grief and cry over is fine with me. 🤭❤

They are truly ruthless. When you begin to question their behavior, they respond with a viciousness that if you were raised in an abusive home, you fall right back into appeasement mode. I can't believe that I allowed that level of fear back into my life. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Great Topic! Trust eroded with every small or larger wound. After existing in the delusional fog, I knew I couldn't trust the Narc, but by that time, "Trust," along with any rational clarity was obscured from thinking about it. Mutual Trust is primary fuel for any long haul relationship ( friend or lover ).

The more months that go by since the brutal discard , the more names are added to the list of other supply he compiled during our relationship. It’s unbelievable how much I should not have trusted him. Every word was a lie. Every interaction. Every intention. Every promise. All lies.

Minute 9:18: “They want you to NOT trust them…” Wow, flashback to a narc takeover company scene. The narc created this very concept and it just finally connected - they WANTED to break the relationships of ALL current team members, but they did it one by one replacing and I kept giving trust until I didn’t. Once I told him “I don’t believe you, you said you weren’t going to terminate anyone else…” - narc was sneering. My question is, if they don’t want us to see behind the mask, then why do they give us a peek of their darkness from time to time? Is this gaslighting? Whew absolutely profound moment for me watching this video. I’m sure if I looked at the other relationships I might find this too, but this one strung me along for a couple years with me believing the mask until the evidence was too deep to ignore. Thank you, this is important. I never thought my own parent would put me in jeopardy. Really, for no other reason than their own entertainment. Who does these sort of things? Always deflecting their own involvement. Communication with the narcissist is like talking to a honey badger. They do not care about your side of the communication, other than cherry-picking ammo for their next sabotage, it will be physical, emotional, financial, always psychological. If trust is what you're looking for, forget about it. You will only be in danger, guaranteed! You are always less than the narcissist. You are going to be a scapegoat. The narcissist is 100% in this relationship for the narcissist. It's bizarre, it's ugly, it's the narcissist. A human tragedy. Real emotions and relationships are not what they want. They want yours without having to care about you. My advice is never to accept gaslighting without response. Stand-up for You. Love yourself despite the narcissist attempts to dominate.

There was an incident that I discovered his lying and then began to discover more holes in our relationship and knew it wasn’t normal…after I found these videos, I figured out what I was up against…I never said anything to him, just quietly planned my exit…

Yes...I remember the first time I "caught" the narcissist in a lie. Before that, he had seemed so trustworthy, so honest, and I believed in that. I literally was STUNNED when the first lie came to my attention. I felt shocked by it. But after that, I recognized it again and again. And when I'd question it, he would just be like, "What?" and he'd have a 'reason' or excuse for the lie. Amazing. No integrity or self-awareness. So disappointing.

Did not know the two siblings behind their masks, and they did not know me. They did not trust me, and I learned that I could not trust them. It became clear that there was no sibling relationship with the brother and the sister.

It's such a glaring statement about society that people cannot make themselves vulnerable to others because they seek to prey upon Them, hurt people hurt people the worst kind of worst people.

Not trusting someone or anyone narcissistic or not actually is not such a bad thing. Right off the bat, you save yourself from heartache, disappointment and tears. Lean on yourself, trust yourself, (especially your gut) and trust in God. That's all you really need and yes, I married a narcissist, had a family with him and eventually got rid of him. In the end, he got rid of himself... hanged himself. In a weird sort of way, that was actually the best day of my life and the best thing he did for our children since there was no hope for him. A miserable, crazy you know what. Such a relief when you know they're gone for good and they can no longer rule or rock your world.

A narcissist goes into a relationship with one foot out the door! All it takes is for a person to cross them of what they feel is wrong or they found someone who can provide a better life for them after they find their current partner no use to them any longer.

I'm glad I recognised this familiar behaviour in someone I begun to speak with, I saw how he tried to make me believe something and then begin to manipulate, I am thankful I recognised it didn't and said no.

And on the deep end of the lying, you start gaslighting yourself so you can maintain the “euphoric” copesthetic dynamic at all costs because that’s what you need to survive the abuse. On the deep end, you start disbelieving and dissapointing yourself “how could I love someone that willingly hurts me”, and “why do I keep allowing this to happen”. All the while allowing the lies and deception to continue. Taking their breadcrumbs and allowing that to suffice. It’s an awful, awful existence and I wish it upon no one. Yesterday I clicked on one of your videos, but you just had your photo on the entire time, and thought that was unusual. I clicked on the subscriber name and I immediately knew it was not you! I know you’re aware of someone stealing your work, and I tried to report them. When I got to the section of who they were impersonating I typed in your subscriber name, it kept saying does not exit. I left a comment on that video that person was using a fake account, is there anything else your listeners can do to stop that person?

Love is truly blind and I believe a narcissist knows that so they sell a person a dream to fit the narc's lifestyle for a time period and when the narcissist completes their tasks they are in the wind! Leaving behind trauma bonds and broken heart's. It's true and sad but we can rebuild and put them in the past and never consider talking them back. Accept they are bad in your time and not good for your growth. No one can never be their best for long with these people.
