I like to imagine that at some point in the project, Kojima found himself going over the project assets and somehow ended up listening to the snake eater vocal track in isolation. The lyrics with no music leaving him with such an impression that he wanted to craft a scene where he had an excuse to throw it into the game.

It's an interlude. It served to separate 2 major acts of the game and to give the player a break from the craziness just before that ladder

Iirc the ladder happens right after a boss fight so it's a good spot to cool down. But yeah the lenght of it is comical

Remastered versions have just released on Steam. They're not spectacular upgrades over the originals, but they're playable copies on PC: That's enough. Highly recommend the series!

A bit reminder but some consider this ladder as a boss fight. If you dont have enough stamina (which depletes overtime or due to sickness & certain actions) you can actually fall to your death

This is wonderful I love how you recreated mgs your editing is amazing but I always enjoy seeing the iconic ladder from mgs it's just so nice seeing a man climb a very long ladder while the song snake eater plays. I played mgs3 recently, and when I got to this I couldn’t believe how exact everything on it had been. I figured that the length of the climb or the fact that snake eater plays was exaggerated, but no, that’s exactly how it plays out.
