Ive used mine so much in the field I've worn all the finish of the blade, and the grip is as smooth as your stone. But I will still take it over my issued knives.

Hey,brother been there,I own several S.O.G knives,and multi tools also Gerber,I carried a MK 2 while I served and seal pup.Both served me well,and anyone who batons with a knife when there is always debris to use,isn't thinking.To many arm chair bushcrafters on U tube selling a product and witless information. As former Marine and Police officer turned construction worker I have always used Sog and Gerber as my go to gear.

I have a Elite pup that I bought in the early '90's, and it still holds an edge very well. Tough as nails. Good video, I just subscribed. Thanks for sharing.

Oh man!!! That’s awesome! I wonder if it is the 58 Rockwell maybe

Aus-8 ...Aus-8 is 8Cr13MoV with better quality control. Aus-8 is a Japanese steel and a tough stainless steel.

Thank you for the education. It has performed so well under pressure. I wish you could see what this knife has been through. Thanks for the comment

Aus8 is very underrated. It's a very balanced steel. Ok toughness, ok edge holding, ok corrosion restiance. About as good as you can make a balanced steel with conventional steel manufacturing.

Glad u made it home brother. Hey, is that the 'elite'?
@PartisanPapa5 ай бұрын
Thank you for saying that. This one is the “elite” yes. Good eye! I think it’s like a 58 Rockwell? Easy to sharpen

This one I picked up at the little tent base exchange at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. It’s a heck of a blade if you can find one brother

A well designed knife doesn't have to be fancy. SOG cares about tuning the design to the purpose. I don't think they finalized it in a vacuum, but must have had some military input. AUS8 is a good hard use stainless and a good choice for a budget knife that still works well. You could make it out of 3V for another 100 dollars and it would hold an edge longer. But it would be hard to afford and you wouldn't see that level of circulation. I have a number of tough knives made out of non-fancy steel - 80crv2, 420HC, 1095, 14c28n, 52100. I don't worry about those knives breaking and they were all under $80.

If the ht is good , 8cr and all the steels deemed upon as not worthy do very very well . 8 cr is a tough steel , 440 s , 420 s

Thought they used aus-6 in the seal pup, junk, this guy doesn't know what a good knife is imo
@PartisanPapa5 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching man. You are correct, the original Seal Pup was AUS 6. This is the Seal Pup Elite and I think it’s AUS 8. Like I said in the video, on paper, it doesn’t make sense, but it performed really well.

Walmart doesn’t sell SOG knives. Cold Steel, yes. SOG is kinda a top shelf brand. I got the same knife in plain edge also. I keep that and the Esee 6 in my SHTF bag. There is definitely something about that knife. It so badass. It’s a Navy Seal knife. I was thinking about getting the Tops Apache Falcon. But like I said, there’s something about that knife.

I want to thank you for watching. Not sure what Walmart you go to, but these knives are sold at the WalMarts I have been to lately. It surprised me because I thought, like you, that Walmart did not sell these. Additionally, they are available on the WalMart Website. I want to ask your opinion on EESE knives?
@vinniepeters19365 ай бұрын
The Esee 6 is a tank of a knife. It’s a “do it all” knife. I strongly recommend buying one.
